WEEKEND PREVIEW From The Coaches The Youth Men had a shaky start to their Round 1 game versus Diamond Valley. It took all of the first quarter to get use to the tempo and recover from a nervous energy flatness. The rest of the game we held sway, despite some poor stats. This week we meet an opponent that is looking for their first win for 2019 also. We are determined to rectify those defects and provide an entertaining first home game and represent the Suns in a manner that makes our supporters proud.

Youth Championship Men Head Coach Welcome to our first home game of season 2019 in what is the second year of the senior men’s transformation with an emphasis on getting younger and having a stronger Sherbrooke content which includes four players who had played for the club in the past returning headlined by co-captain James Denton. The pre-season was the most extensive I have conducted, commencing back in October and while basketball was high on the agenda, we shared many experiences away from the court that built camaraderie and pushed the guys outside their comfort zone including a team building camp, boxing and lake runs. The arrival of Kraig five weeks ago finalised the group but we haven’t had any real continuity with the roster on a game by game basis to date so the coming month will be critical to bank some early wins pre-Easter especially considering the league has taken a significant step forward with the talent pool across the competition. Tonight we welcome the Altona Gators, who are a team that added additional firepower in the offseason and while going down in round 1 to Southern Peninsula they had five guys in double figures and possess some legitimate size and length which we know will be a tough cover. Thanks for your support, we hope you enjoy the night and spread the word as we would love to pack out ‘Heights’ throughout the season.
