We are excited to be back on our home court to host the Waverley Falcons. Last weeks narrow lost to Ringwood, a genuine top four team showed the group that we can be competitive against the top teams in the competition. Waverley has an evenly matched squad, focused on inside scoring, stark contrast to the Sun’s loaded shooting team. Suns sharp shooters Darren Feldtmann, Nick Tarrant and Tyrone Tonkin will be the ones to look for, with the diamond in the rough Sam Carl consistently shooting at a high percentage. We are expecting a close competitive game and hope the Suns crowd can bring us home for the win. Go Suns, Sun City.

Youth Championship Men’s Head Coach Welcome back to Heights for the first half of our double header weekend with Altona to follow on the road tomorrow. Our last two weekends separated by Easter have been hugely disappointing and while our avg losing margin is just 9.1pts across the six loses to date in the season, the most alarming fact is the fluctuations during games when challenged, which was exhibited once again last week having an 11 point lead in the second quarter to then being overrun by the then winless Mornington in the second half. This has nothing to do with fitness or fatigue as the team is more than prepared physically, but through collective analysis over this week the glaring fact is our inability to keep teams off the boards, which is seeing us give up far too many second chance opportunities and with such small margin for error, this has been a major factor in the games we have lost by 7,7,6 and 9pts respectively. While young in terms of experience across the roster, I expect more of the group from top to bottom and it’s now time to deliver as the season is quickly slipping away. With two thirds of the season ahead of us and results around us still keeping us in the thick of the pack a pair of wins are vital and the return of inspirational leader, Harry Minifie has injected some much needed fire into the squad. Tonight we welcome the Wallan Panthers, who are 2-3 in their last five beating the teams below them while being competitive against the top tier to sit 4-4 overall. The return of Leigh Saffin (20.5ppg & 6.6rpg) gives them a legitimate Australian scoring threat, new import Trace Cureton (19.4pts & 8rebs) has been a find with consistent output each week while another South West Vic product Brock Carter (9.6ppg & 11.1rpg) has really stiffened their front line to be top 5 in rebounds across the league.

Sherbrooke Suns BIG V Imports Kraig Shields & Deslyn Applewhaite are offering individual/small group training sessions each Monday and Wednesday evening with all players welcome irrespective of age or skill level. The sessions are conducted at Upwey High School on Monday between 6-7pm and Wednesday evenings between 6-8pm. Sessions will cover all individual offensive and defensive components and can be tailored based on parent/player feedback. Cost schedule as follows; One on One: $30 per hour (single coach) Two participants: $20 ph per person (single coach) Group 3 or more participants: $15 ph per person (single coach) These sessions will be capped at 1:8 coach/player ratio and pre-booking is required.
