PROFILE I am an ambitious, creative & confident designer, with a desire to work within a wide range of disciplines of architecture. My interests lie in the relationships between architecture, interiors and detailing; exploring how these design principles can affect a human experience.
AWARDS LIXIL International Student Competition (2016 - 2017) A small team of international students whilst at KADK were the winners of an International architecture competition in Japan. The competition design was built under the supervision of Kengo Kuma Architects in Tokyo, and built on site at Memu Meadows, Hokkaido, alongside previous years winners from Harvard, Berkeley, Oslo & Tokyo University. RIBA Student Awards (2013) Short-listed as a candidate for RIBA London Student Prize for my final project ‘Synchronicity’ out of a selection of 60 candidates. ARCHITECTURAL EXPERIENCE Grimshaw Architects Sydney Graduate Architect
(March - July 2015)
I relocated to Sydney, Australia for 6 months in order to work and also see more of the world. It was a fantastic experience, working on several projects over the course of 5 months. I assisted the Director of the company in an on-site project in central Sydney (100 George Street), working up interior fitting drawings; choosing specifications and finishes through sample collation & 3D renderings. I also lead the interior design package for a large residential project in Bahrain. This was two towers of 500 apartments in a large international project split across all of the Grimshaw offices. This was a large learning curve in working in the Middle East and working to very short delivery date and programme. I also contributed to an incredible live competition of Raffles Hotel in central Sydney. A refurbishment of two historical buildings, including the insertion of a 30 storey tower. I collated the interior design package, working alongside a highly skilled CGI team. Michaelis Boyd Associates Part 1 Architectural Assistant
(July 2013 - February 2015)
I developed design concepts & interior specifications for Battersea PowerStation for 5 months through hand drawn visuals and specification documents. After this, I worked on a private members club in Soho, London; The Groucho Club. This was an incredible refurbishment which involved working with their outstanding art collection to create a private place for artists and celebrities; without changing the ethos or style of the 40 year old club. I was involved in weekly presentations of concept and specifications, using hand drawn 3D visuals, whilst progressing technical drawings and managing the project on site. As well as these projects, I developed and established the studios interior design department, contributing interior design advice to commercial projects within the office.
Transit Studio Architectural Assistant
(Nov. 2016 - June 2017)
Transit studio was established by a previous director of Michaelis Boyd Associates. I worked closely with the Transit Studio Founder previously, therefore it was a natural fit to continue working part - time with him throughout my studies. I worked mostly on design concepts and interior fit outs for a range of commercial spaces as well as a private residents in Italy. I also put together tender packages for projects which are due for completion January 2018. It was a choice to continue part-time work during my masters in order to stay connected to the industry and gain more knowledge which in turn helped me with my masters projects.
Scarlett Hessian Design
(Nov. 2016 - July 2017)
I have always wished to work on private projects for myself. The opportunity then occurred in 2016 to re-design a traditional Victorian terrace house in Chelsea, London. I worked very closely with the site manager and contractor in order to run a smooth, successful project. A challenge working from abroad, however we completed the project in July 2017 and all went as planned. The client wanted bespoke joinery, an extension and a terrace for the house. The carpentry detailing is the most joyous part of the finished project, as well as working along side my family carpenter.

NORDHAVN, KØBENHAVN CHALLENGING THE LOSS OF SPECIFICITY IN MODERN DOMESTIC DWELLINGS
“I am very nosy, and sometimes I want to see if Henrik is home, to see where his bicycle is, so I can lean out without falling down.”

“Yeah, we go down there (to the courtyard). And of course when I have my balcony, I’m not down there so much, but sometimes I go down. Even if there’s someone sitting down there we talk to each other from the balcony.”
“I think, it’s quite nice atmosphere. I know the whole apartment block, we all know each other. Underneath Henrik there is a girlfriend to Henrik’s fiancé, their not married, instead they have two children. But Cecilia, she has a beauty parlour, in the city and her friend Tina. Tina lives in this building too now and has a little dog, and they just had seven small puppies, they have long ears, they are spaniels, oh they are lovely”.

“The rubbish men were coming, and they were making a lot of noise, and they have a little boy, and he loves to see that. So she stands in the window with the little boy, and their looking down, and one day, I was looking at the same time and we were waving at each other. ”
Yeah, , Rasmus comes and fixes when things are wrong. He has a flat in the same building, on the other side of the street. He is very useful.
