FILM MAKING COURSE INFORMATION Place of study:

Full time or part time
Length of course: Full time: four years for BA (hons), three years for BA, or options to complete one year for Cert HE, or two years Dip HE. Part time: modules can be taken individually with flexible attendance requirements. Start date:
September 2016
Entry requirements: Three Highers or equivalent – one in a literary subject, eg English, History, Psychology. OR National 5 IT at grade C or equivalent. You will be required to attend an interview to assess your technical ability.
COURSE SUMMARY This exciting new BA (Hons) Film Making degree is designed to allow students to produce creative films using the rural landscape of Scotland; working with local writers and musicians; and in scenic locations. The programme will give you the opportunity to collaborate with local communities, and arts and cultural industry experts to set up realistic industry links for your future career and employment.
COURSE CONTENT Level 1 – Cert HE. Modules include:
Single Film Production Writing for Screen Introduction to Post-production Moving Images: Visual Literacy Cultural and Creative Practice
Level 2 – Dip HE. Modules include:
Craft and Art for Filming Moving Images: Genre and Style Post-production Techniques Writing for Film: Writing a Screenplay Creating Work for Clients
Level 3 – BA. Modules include:
Film-production: Techniques and Aesthetics Documentary Film Development Scotland in Film Non-Fictional Narrative Film Project
Level 4 – BA (Hons). Modules include: You will study a mix of craft skills, editing and production, film studies, documentaries and cultural archiving and recording in an environment that promotes personal development and learning. You will also develop skills in small business planning and research while acquiring technical ability and hands-on, intensive experience.
Post-production: Advanced Techniques Professional Practice Critical Commentary
You will also undertake a major film project
HOW WILL I STUDY? You will study through a combination of face-toface and video conference lectures, tutorials; residential experiences and online study via the UHI’s virtual learning environment (VLE)
