Life (15)
Free Fire (15)
Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Reynolds and Rebecca Ferguson star in a spectacular sci-fi thriller. The six-member crew of the International Space Station makes of one of the most important discoveries in human history: the first evidence of extra-terrestrial life on Mars. But as the crew begins to conduct research, their methods end up having unintended consequences, and the life form proves more intelligent, and dangerous, than anyone ever expected.
A darkly hilarious crime thriller from director Ben Wheatley (High Rise). Justine (Brie Larson) has brokered a meeting in a deserted warehouse between two Irishmen (Cillian Murphy, Michael Smiley) and a gang led by Vernon (Sharlto Copley) and Ord (Armie Hammer), who are selling them a stash of guns. But when shots are fired in the handover, a heart stopping game of survival ensues. Hugely entertaining, Ben Wheatley’s latest has been compared to Reservoir Dogs.

SCREENPRIDE Get Out (15)
Appropriate Behavior (15)
Jordan Peele’s debut perfectly balances suspense, humour and horror while making a hard-hitting political statement about liberal America. Rose invites her boyfriend Chris to spend the weekend upstate with her parents. At first, Chris reads the family's overly accommodating behaviour as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter's interracial relationship, but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he could never have imagined.
Monthly screenings of contemporary and classic films with themes of LGBT. Everyone welcome!

A refreshingly honest and brilliantly witty lesbian romcom from writer-director-star Desiree Akhavan. For Shirin, being part of a perfect Persian family isn't easy. Her family doesn't know she's bisexual, and her ex-girlfriend, Maxine, can't understand why she doesn't tell them. Following her brother's betrothal to a parentally approved Iranian prize catch, Shirin embarks on a private rebellion involving a series of pansexual escapades, while trying to decipher what went wrong with Maxine.

Twenty-five years later, armed with only a handful of memories, his unwavering determination and Google Earth, he sets out in search of his lost family and first home.
An epic tale of courage and passion, based on an incredible true story. British explorer Percy Fawcett journeys into the Amazon at the dawn of the 20th century and discovers evidence of a previously unknown, advanced civilization that may have once inhabited the region. Train To Busan (15)
Goodfellas (18)
This brilliant Korean zombie horror-thriller follows a group of terrified passengers fighting their way through a countrywide viral outbreak while trapped on a suspicionfilled, blood-drenched bullet train. Showing in honour of Shetland's Annual Zombiefest, this film will get you in the mood for the annual shuffle that takes place this year on Saturday 15 April. Zombies will be assembling at the Bop Shop on Harbour Street at 10am for help with costume and make-up, before shambling off to the Market Cross. Visit them on their FaceBook page for more details!
Goodfellas is Scorsese at the very height of his powers, directing with a dynamic urgency and a bravura use of camera, music and outstanding performers. Ray Liotta stars as Henry Hill, a young man drawn into the swaggering glamour and violence of a mobster’s life, mentored by the lethally paranoid Jimmy Conway (De Niro). The knockout support cast includes Lorraine Bracco and an Oscar-winning Joe Pesci as the volatile Tommy DeVito.

Mad Max: Fury Road (15) BLACK & CHROME EDITION
Bringing classic films back to the big screen where they belong.
Ditching the vibrant colours of the 2015 cinema release, this new black-and-white version is director George Miller’s preferred vision of his postapocalyptic world.
In celebration of the release of Mad Max: Fury Road – Black & Chrome Edition (screening on 30 April), we bring you the first film in George Miller’s iconic franchise. In a dystopian southern hemisphere, Max is an ex-cop who seeks revenge after a biker gang murder his family. Miller’s gritty, low-budget indie hit turned Mel Gibson from an Australian soap star into a post-apocalyptic hero. (Our definition of ‘classic’ is very broad, so expect something for everyone over the coming months!)
Max Rockatansky joins a band of renegades fleeing across the wastelands, led by elite Imperator Furiosa, who is hell-bent on crossing the desert to reach sanctuary in her childhood homeland. They’re hotly and viciously pursued by the warlord Immortan Joe and his ruthless followers.

The Time of Their Lives (12A)
Rules Don't Apply (12A)
A sunny comedy starring Joan Collins, Pauline Collins and Italian heartthrob Franco Nero. Determined to gatecrash her ex-lover's funeral on the glamorous French hideaway of Îe-de-Ré, former Hollywood siren Helen escapes her London retirement home with the help of Priscilla, a repressed housewife stuck in an unhappy marriage. Pooling their resources, they hit the road in a race to get to the island, becoming entangled in a love triangle with a reclusive Italian millionaire along the way.
A stylish romantic comedy set in 1950s Hollywood, directed by and starring Warren Beatty. It's 1958 and small town Baptist beauty queen Marla Mabrey has just arrived in Tinseltown under contract to eccentric mogul Howard Hughes. But her career seems to be going nowhere, and, in her boredom, Marla finds herself drawn to Hughes’ handsome young chauffeur Frank Forbes. Unfortunately, Hughes has one golden rule: no employee is permitted to have any kind of relationship with a contract actress. A sparkling, hugely enjoyable comedy.

Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Alan Arkin team up for this heist movie with a difference! After their pension fund becomes a corporate casualty, OAPs Willie, Al and Joe decide to step off the straight-andnarrow for the first time in their lives, and embark on a daring bid to knock off the very bank that absconded with their money. Garden State director (and Scrubs actor) Zach Braff directs this star-studded comedy.
A witty, romantic and moving portrayal of a young woman finding her way, and her voice, in the mayhem of war… and the movies! 1940, London, the Blitz; with the country’s morale at stake, Catrin (Gemma Arterton), an untried screenwriter, and a makeshift cast and crew including eccentric actor Ambrose Hilliard (Bill Nighy), work under fire to make a film to lift the nation’s flagging spirits, and inspire America to join the war.

It Happened One Night (U)
Manhattan (12A)
Frank Capra's seminal screwball comedy, which won all five major Academy Awards for 1934, is still as breezy and beguiling today. When spoilt high-society brat Ellie (Claudette Colbert) runs away from her father to marry her fiancé, she encounters down -on-his-luck journalist Peter (Clark Gable). Quickly figuring out a solution to both their predicaments, Peter agrees to help Ellie cross the country, all the while scheming for the society story of his career...
Setting the tone and style for many of his later movies, this early masterpiece from Woody Allen celebrates, as ever, his beloved New York. Allen stars as Isaac, a neurotic TV comedy writer who feels uneasy about his relationship with a 17-year-old girl (Mariel Hemingway) and escapes into the arms of his best friend's mistress (Diane Keaton), all the while coping with the unsettling presence of his ex-wife (Meryl Streep).
Sleepless in Seattle (PG)
Four Weddings and a Funeral (15)
Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan star in Nora Ephron’s whimsical charmer. Sam Baldwin is a widower living in Seattle with his eight-year-old son Jonah. One night, a desperate Jonah calls a radio psychologist to see if she can help Sam find a new wife. Across the country, Annie Reed, a reporter for The Baltimore Sun, hears the show and becomes obsessed with Sam’s story, even though she’s already engaged…
A London bachelor's misfortunes in love look set to change when he meets an American beauty at a wedding. However, the prospect of a transatlantic relationship succeeding seems slim, so the pair go their separate ways – only for him to realise he is unable to get her out of his mind.

Shetland Arts Development Agency manages Bonhoga Gallery, The Garrison Theatre & Mareel. We also develop and promote a year round programme of film, music, theatre, literature, visual arts, & dance events. We do this because we want to see Shetland celebrated as a place where inspiration & innovation are valued; where people want to live, work & study; and we want the full social & economic potential of the islands to be achieved.
Shetland Arts is supported by Creative Scotland and core funded by the Shetland Charitable Trust. Shetland Arts is a registered charity (SCO37082).
