Bad Neighbours 2 (TBC)
Florence Foster Jenkins (PG)
Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne are back and this time they have an even worse neighbour... Following on from 2014’s smash hit comedy Bad Neighbours comes this even wilder and more shocking sequel that shows us that girls are even more badly behaved than boys when it comes to teenage parties! Two years ago, married couple Mac (Seth Rogen) and Kelly Radner (Rose Byrne) found themselves living next to the neighbours from hell when a bunch of party-loving students led by Teddy (Zac Efron) moved in next to them. Now, two years later, Mac and Kelly find themselves having to go into battle with their new neighbours when a bunch of sorority girls headed up wildchild Shelby (Chloë Grace Moretz) crash the avenue.
Directed by Stephen Frears (Philomena, The Queen), Florence Foster Jenkins tells the inspirational true story of the eponymous New York heiress who obsessively pursued her dream of becoming a great singer. The film celebrates the human spirit, the power of music and the passion of amateurs everywhere. The voice Florence (Streep) heard in her head was divine, but to the rest of the world it was hilariously awful. At private recitals, her devoted husband and manager, St Clair Bayfield (Grant), managed to protect Florence from the truth. But when Florence decided to give her first public concert at New York’s Carnegie Hall, St Clair realised he had perhaps bitten off more than he could chew.

X-Men: Apocalypse (TBC) Following the critically acclaimed global smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer returns with X-Men: Apocalypse. Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
Captain America: Civil War (12A) Political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability when the actions of the Avengers lead to collateral damage. The new status quo deeply divides members of the team. Captain America (Chris Evans) believes superheroes should remain free to defend humanity without government interference. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) sharply disagrees and supports oversight. As the debate escalates into an all-out feud, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) must pick a side.

Davis’ letters catch the attention of customer service rep, Karen Mareno (Watts) and amidst emotional and financial burdens of her own, the two form an unlikely connection. With the help of Karen and her son, Chris (Judah Lewis), Davis starts to rebuild, beginning with the demolition of the life he once knew.

Col Katherine Powell (Helen Mirren) leads a secret drone mission to capture a terrorist group living in a safehouse in Nairobi, Kenya. When Powell learns that the group plans to carry out a suicide attack, the capture plan becomes a kill scenario, creating a tug of war between the aggressive Colonel and nervous government officials, with a British General (Alan Rickman, in his last onscreen performance) mediating the evolving conversation. Reservoir Dogs (18)
Jackie Brown (15)
The film that started it all. Released in 1992, Reservoir Dogs catapulted Tarantino from obscurity and established him as the most influential filmmaker of the 90s. A classic tale of honour amongst thieves as eight strangers are assembled to pull off the perfect crime, but when a botched robbery reveals a police informant among them, their simple robbery explodes into a bloody ambush. Tarantino’s directorial debut was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival (1992) and awarded the International Critics Award at the Toronto International Film Festival (1992). It is raw, violent and unforgettable featuring a stellar cast including Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth and Steve Buscemi.
Quentin Tarantino’s acclaimed adaptation of Elmore Leonard’s Rum Punch follows a cash-smuggling flight attendant (Pam Grier) who is busted by an ATF agent (Michael Keaton) and a cop (Michael Bowen). When pressured to help with their investigation, she agrees to do one last run for a ruthless arms dealer (Samuel L. Jackson). Mistrust and suspicions arise when Jackie plays the opposing forces against each other in an effort to walk away with the dough. Robert Forster earned a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for his role as Max Cherry, a bail bondsman who falls for Jackie and becomes embroiled in the scheme.

Pulp Fiction has been hailed by critics and audiences worldwide as a film that redefined cinema. A burger-loving hit man (John Travolta), his philosophical partner (Samuel L. Jackson), a drug-addled gangster’s moll (Uma Thurman) and a washed-up boxer (Bruce Willis) converge in four tales of violence and redemption. The film took home an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay (1994) and earned seven total nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director. A breathtaking tribute to old dime store novels about small time hoods and dangerous criminal and has been listed as one of the best films of all-time by Empire and Total Film.
A Jewish cinema owner in Nazi-occupied Paris is forced to host a movie premiere for the Third Reich, where a radical group of American soldiers, The Basterds, led by Lt. Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt), plan to roll out a score-settling scheme. The film was honoured with an Academy Award® for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role (2009, Christoph Waltz) and earned seven total nominations, including Best Motion Picture of the Year for Lawrence Bender and Best Writing, Original Screenplay for Quentin Tarantino.

Alice Through the Looking Glass (TBC)
The Jungle Book (PG) Based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s classic animated film, The Jungle Book is an all-new live-action epic adventure about Mowgli, a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he is no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan (Idris Elba), who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat. Urged to abandon the only home he’s ever known, Mowgli embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery, guided by pantherturned-stern mentor Bagheera (Ben Kingsley), and the free-spirited bear Baloo (Bill Murray). Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa (Scarlett Johansson), a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie (Christopher Walken), who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire.
Alice Kingsleigh (Wasikowska) has spent the past few years following in her father’s footsteps and sailing the high seas. Upon her return to London, she comes across a magical looking glass and returns to the fantastical realm of Underland and her friends the White Rabbit (Sheen), Absolem (Rickman), the Cheshire Cat (Fry) and the Mad Hatter (Depp), who is not himself. The Hatter has lost his Muchness, so Mirana (Hathaway) sends Alice on a quest to borrow the Chronosphere, a metallic globe inside the chamber of the Grand Clock which powers all time. Returning to the past, she comes across friends – and enemies – at different points in their lives, and embarks on a perilous race to save the Hatter before time runs out.
Ratchet and Clank (U) CG-animated movie based on the iconic PlayStation video game, Ratchet and Clank follows two unlikely heroes as they struggle to stop a vile alien named Chairman Drek from destroying every planet in the Solana Galaxy. Ratchet is the last of his kind, a foolhardy “lombax” who has grown up alone on a backwater planet with no family of his own. Clank is a pint-sized robot with more brains than brawn. When the two stumble upon a dangerous weapon capable of destroying entire planets, they must join forces with a team of colorful heroes called The Galactic Rangers in order to save the galaxy. Along the way, they will learn about heroism, friendship, and the importance of discovering one’s own identity.
Angry Birds (U) It’s time to meet the ‘Angry Birds’. Red has never fit in with the other birds. But now, he may be the only one who can save their island. When a ship full of pigs arrives at their home, Red immediately suspects something. With the help of the over-enthusiastic Chuck and the (literally) explosive Bomb, he sets out to investigate the pigs and find out why they came to the island. ‘The Angry Birds Movie’ brings the massively popular game from the phone screen to the silver screen with the help of Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad and Peter Dinklage.

Iona (15)
Victoria (15)
Iona and her teenage son seek refuge from a violent crime back on the island (Iona) where she was raised. Her return exposes her son to the more gentle way of life she rejected when she left the island as a teenager and also resonates amongst those friends she had once left behind. Shetland star Douglas Henshall makes a return to the big screen in this striking and enthralling drama set against the stunning backdrop of the Inner Hebrides islands.
Exhilarating and astonishingly ambitious, Victoria is an adrenaline-fuelled heist thriller set on the streets of nighttime Berlin that features the staggering technical feat of being shot in a single, unbroken take. Victoria, a young woman from Madrid, meets four local guys outside a nightclub in the early hours of the morning. Striking up a friendship, they take to a nearby rooftop to continue the night. But when the group are suddenly forced to repay a debt to a member of the city’s criminal underworld, the night quickly spirals out of control.
The Club (18)
Black Mountain Poets (15)
Shot in Chile, The Club is a powerful drama that follows four priests who live together in a secluded house in a small, seaside town. Aiming to absolve themselves of past sins, they live according to a strict regime under the watchful eye of a female caretaker. When the fragile stability of their routine is disrupted by the arrival of a fifth man, a newlydisgraced companion brings with him the past they thought they had left behind. Winner of the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize at the Berlin International Film Festival 2015, The Club is director’s Pablo Larraín fifth feature-length film.
A relationship comedy shot in just five days in the Black Mountains of Wales, director Jamie Adams’s film marks the culmination of his ‘Modern Romance Trilogy’ – which also includes Benny & Jolene and A Wonderful Christmas Time – and stars the wonderful Alice Lowe and Dolly Wells as a pair of on-the-run sisters who assume the identities of poets to find refuge at a poetry/camping weekend. Downton Abbey’s Tom Cullen stars as the poet who comes between them. The improvised dialogue – including some magnificent one-liners and an unforgettable dramatic rendering of a barcode – is fresh, hilarious and witty and Ryan Owen Eddleston’s cinematography makes the scenery soar.

Shetland Arts Development Agency manages Bonhoga Gallery, The Garrison Theatre & Mareel. We also develop and promote a year round programme of film, music, theatre, literature, visual arts, & dance events. We do this because we want to see Shetland celebrated as a place where inspiration & innovation are valued; where people want to live, work & study; and we want the full social & economic potential of the islands to be achieved.
Shetland Arts is supported by Creative Scotland and core funded by the Shetland Charitable Trust. Shetland Arts is a registered charity (SCO37082).
