Mr McFall’s Chamber has been described as “potentially the most important single development on the Scottish music scene for a long time” (The Herald). The ensemble plays a range of music from tango through jazz and rock to contemporary classical. It consists of string quartet, bass, piano, percussion and sometimes vocals. The programme they will perform at Mareel is entitled ‘Dancing Under The Shadows’ and features tango numbers by Artur Gold, Jerzy Petersburski, Fanny Gordon, Zygmunt Wiehler, Wiktor Krupinski and Stanislaw Ferszko. £18.50

After 26 years as a member of La Bottine souriante, and having created the Bébert Orchestra in 2004, Yves Lambert, with his partners Olivier Rondeau and Tommy Gauthier, has since 2010 presented a trio with a new sound that offers unusual brilliance and a distinctive personality. The Yves Lambert Trio shows how traditional local music continually reinvents itself in the modern context. Music lovers curious to take a listen will discover the work of master craftsmen who make traditional music accessible to the wider public. £18 / £16

Playing a wonderful blend of folk songs, classic pop influences and self written favourites, Barbara and Rab recall their early years playing in Scottish folk clubs and concert halls. Barbara Dickson and Rab Noakes have been friends since they were teenagers, singing and playing in venues around Scotland. Both have diverse careers and have won awards and praise for their solo work in many fields. Now, they’ve reunited to perform a wonderful blend of folk songs, classic pop influences and self written favourites. Rab’s continuing reputation as one of Scotland’s finest singer-songwriters and Barbara’s skills as an interpreter of new and traditional songs provide an enviable platform for this unique show. £22

Since releasing her debut solo album and being awarded ‘Best Up and Coming Artist’ and nominated as ‘Best Instrumentalist’ at the Scots Trad Music Awards, Jenna Reid has undoubtedly remained one of the brightest talents ever to grace the traditional music scene and remains in high demand as a performer and tutor.
