combine multiple images using GIMP

Page 1

You have an image and a background, or you have multiple designs, you want to combine them together, what would you do? Here’s how by using GIMP, GIMP is a freeware which is fast to download and easy to use, here’s the link, http://www.gimp.org/downloads/ let’s say I have a design like this,

And a background like this,

So first, I open the file of the parchment paper in gimp, just use: File > Open > ‘the picture name’ Then go to: File > Open as layers > ‘the worm picture’ Then you will have something like this,

To remove the white square, go to the left side ‘Layers’ toolbox, at the ‘Mode:’ part, choose multiply,

After selecting multiply, you will get an image like this,

If you wish to make changes to any of the layers ( erase some parts, paint…etc ) Just select the following layer from the ‘Layers’ toolbox on the left side. Sometimes, when I select a layer, let’s say the ‘worm’ layer and try to move it around, the whole background moved together,

To prevent this, go to the right side toolbox, select ‘Move the active layer’

By choosing this, only the layer you selected will move. Let’s say I wish to add a conversation bubble,

To a slug,

And I ended up with something like this,

The bubble is pointing to the wrong side, so what I can do is, I click on ‘Flip Tool’ at the right side toolbox,

And click on the bubble,

So, these are the basic tools you would need to use in combining multiple images, if you still face any problems, feel free to post you questions at, http://poink.kube.com.my/ have fun!
