Hi, today I’m gonna share about how to create a dripping paint or dripping blood style text. But before that, let me begin with this, I’m using GIMP, GIMP is an image manipulation freeware, you can download it at, http://www.gimp.org/downloads/ So, the end result look like this,
First, you begin with a blank white template, then, you use the ‘Text tool’ to create any word you want, using any text color.
I use Red
So, I start out with a template like this,
Layer tool box
At the Layer tool box, right click the text layer, select: Layer to Image Size. Dripping style looks nicer if the text have more rounded edges, to do that: At the Layer tool box, right click the text layer, select ‘Alpha to Selection’.
Go to: Filters > Blur > Gaussian Blur Set the blur Radius to 7, then click ‘OK’. Then, go to: Colors > Curves Set ‘Channel:’ to ‘Alpha’
Adjust the graph to look like this. You can check the changes to your text at the template. If you are satisfied, then click ‘OK’
You should get something like this,
Then, select the Paintbrush tool, and select brush size with suitable thickness.
Select ‘Paintbrush’ tool
Color must be same as text color
Select suitable brush size, I select 11.
Then, draw straight lines from the text, when drawing, hold down ‘Shift’ key so you can draw straight lines.
Until it looks like this,
Then, go to: Filters > Distorts > IWarp
Make small circular (circle) movement at the tip to make the ‘drip’ shape.
Select ‘Grow’.
Deform Radius: 9 Deform amount: 0.26
Important: After ‘Growing’ each ‘tip’, click ‘OK’ before continuing to the next ‘tip’. Because: You cannot use ‘Undo’ function in ‘IWarp’. If you make a mistake, you have to start over.
Hint: To repeat the same process (example: keep opening the IWarp function), just press: Ctrl F Until you get something like this,
Then, again, go to: Filters > Distorts > IWarp At the ‘Deform Mode’, select ‘Shrink’. Use the same ‘Deform Radius’ and ‘Deform Amount’. Move your mouse along each line to shrink the sides. Make it look uneven so it looks realistic.
Save after you ‘Shrink’ each line, because you can’t use Undo.
Until you get something like this,
Then, at the Layer tool box, right click this text layer, select: Alpha to Selection. Then, go to: Filters > Blur > Gaussian Blur Set a blur Radius of 7. Then, go to: Filters > Distorts > Emboss
Select Bumpmap
Azimuth: 52.94 Elevation: 60.88 Depth: 17 Or, adjust accordingly, by referring the picture at the ‘Preview’. Then click ‘OK’.
Then, you should get something like this,
