Basic graffiti text

Page 1

Here’s a tip I would like to share, on how to create graffiti effect text. You started out by creating any style of text, for me, I prefer jagged and crooked side text, but any style will look good. Oh, before I forgot, don’t use mechanical pencils because their lines are too thin, color pencils will give the best effect but normal pencils will do too. So this is what I started with,

Graffiti text usually has 3D effect, to create that effect, you can draw out extra sides to give it depth,

One popular background in graffiti design is the ‘brick’ background, to create that effect, you started out by drawing straight horizontal and vertical lines, using a ruler won’t spoil the end result.

Then, you darken and thicken the sides of the rectangles to give it a slightly rounded, cartoonish look, this is what I meant,

The result will look like this,

Then, fill in the ‘space’ in between the bricks, ( you can use GIMP to fill it out for a better look, but to safe time, I’m gonna do this entire thing using my pencil and a green pen. )

Then, you fill in the extra sides, with any color you desire,

To refine it, you can add in colors to the text, or add some tones to the bricks,

To do this with a pencil will be very tedious, so I’m not gonna do it, ( which is why I recommend color pencils, or GIMP ).

You can also add shadows to the text, generally in graffiti, a lot of lines/ shadows are added to reinforce the sides of the image,

You can try it out yourself, and if you found out other tips, please share it at this facebook page â˜ş
