QUARTERLY UPDATE (Q1, 2016)
Diversifying of our Economy, one Ship at a time…
Hello S&R Stakeholders, RE: Thanks to you for your continued interest in the on-going expansion of the S&R Industry in T&T.
Quite a lot has happened in the development of our local maritime sector, since a change in Government administration lead by the Prime Minister Dr. Keith Christopher Rowley, MP after the September 2015 General Elections held in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
WELCOME TO TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO The SRDC and our maritime Cluster Stakeholders were pleased to facilitate the inward visit of a Maritime Graduate from the Universidad Maritima del Caribe (UMC) a leading Venezuelan Maritime University to our shores, during the period 18th - 22nd December, 2015. Visit included tours to scenic sites, ports, shipyards and meetings with our Stakeholders in Trinidad and Tobago. ARTHUR LOK JACK GSB STUDENTS VISIT SHIPYARDS On January 30, 2016 students enrolled in the MBA International Trade, Logistics and Procurement programme at the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business visited both Inter-Isle Construction & Fabrication and Maritime Preservation (Trinidad) Shipyards, located at Chaguaramas Bay and the port of Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. This field trip afforded them a hands-on appreciation of the workings of a shipyard, a most invaluable experience given that this industry is one of the sectors being targeted for expansion as part of the country’s economic diversification thrust. View additional photos here: https://flic.kr/s/aHsktwKMmV This event was organized by the Shipbuilding and Repair Development Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited, with the kind assistance of their S&R Cluster Stakeholders. The visit was much appreciated and a great eye-opener, as expressed unanimously and resoundingly echoed by the students.
