If you were to ask Dr. Ivy Anderson what is one of her greatest feats in life, she would empathetically say, becoming a nurse. Though she had many challenges and setbacks, she made it! And after being a nurse for over 30 years, and a certified nurse educator, Dr. Anderson realized her career was not just a job, but it was truly a calling.
“So many students over the years have contacted me frustrated and discouraged regarding the overall process and demands in what it takes to become a nurse. So I make sure when they leave me they feel motivated and encouraged that they, too, can make it,” Dr. Anderson said.
One of her key factors in motivating students is prayer. Dr. Anderson believes strongly in the power of prayer. After praying with countless students in healthcare programs, she wanted to make sure that students have the resources that they needed to be inspired and strengthened on a regular basis to eliminate frustation, anxiety, doubt and fear.
Her books, “Nursing Student Prayer Book” and Nursing Student Daily Devotional and Prayer Journal,” are some of the tools she penned to provide the assistance they need. These publications are filled with wonderful and targeted prayers as well as scriptures to give students the inspiration they need during challenging times in school.
