A2 - THREE GENERATION PERSONAS- SHIVANI JAIN SCENE:The A1 scenario described the future worlds in the framework of the Manoa School of Thought. The future described would face economic turmoil, popluation expansion, however, future technologies and innovations are gonna strengthen and the effects of climate change on the environment will become less threatening. There will need to be a consnensus among nations on the topic of climate change and that this phenomenon is important to invest in, as it is really real. There will need to be conservational attitudes adopted by individuals all over, to limit damage on environment and sustainable practice needs to be a priority in each relevant field. The technological advances will prepare individual from unforseen effects/damages. The collapse world will be the movement of people to live underground, because the environment is no longer safe. In A2, I would like to translate these future worlds in to the context of a family over 3 generations. The 3 generations will provide the reader with an understanding of the lives of these individuals and how they play out till the year 2050. These lives will be descriptive enough to include information about the activities of each of the individuals, their likes, hobbies, and activiites. They will descripe the type of occupation that these individuals will hold. They will show how the activities/lives of these individuals are effected by the future world presented. Jean- Paul b. 1982, Age: 68
highly reserved and intellectual. An environmental engineer and a musician. Describes problems of the world through his music. Dedicates his time towards climate change research and uses his skills to start up an emission lab that studies carbon emissions and the depth of its impact. He marries his high-school sweatheart, a successful marriage and beautiful kids. He had to wait for her to divorce her previous husband and she has a child Elisa from her previous marriage. Parents moved from France.
Lisette b. 1981, Age: 69
affectionate, calm tempered, and graceful Lisette is an architect. She too has a passion for sustainable architecture and works on teams to construct Passive Houses with low carbon emissions. She is interested in Jazz and attends a lot of concerts/performances with her husband who is a musician. She is content with her second marriage and is finally with the man that she loves. She invests time in account managements for JeanPaul’s startup. Parents moved from France.
Elise b. 1998, Age 52
resourceful and agressive Elise like her mother has a passion for design. After a semester in architecture she switched to fashion design. She is an entrepreneur like her father and owns a small boutique in the West End. She is a career-oriented woman and stays single. Claims she never found true love and is happy being alone. The success of the business keeps her attitude up. She is currently designing a line from recycled materials. She is much older than the other children and lives by herself in an apartment.
Andre b. 2012, Age 38
Creative, Driven, Leader Andre is ambitious like his father. He is never unoccupied and searching for the truth in the world around him. He is an chemical engineer and collaborates with his father on this new project. He want to design a technology that will capture carbon emissions from powerplans. This method is known as carbon sequestration. He marries his long time girlfriend Angelina and they love to go sky diving. He had tow partners invested in these technologies and EPA funding to support the development.
Angelina b. 2015, Age 33
energetic, charismatic, and practical Andre’s sister Angelina loves to spend her days with friends roaming through the various streets of New York. Always willing to explore a new cafe and restaurant and claims that you can never see it all. She analyzes the rapid growth in population and the chaotic city. She is a journalist for the New York Times and covers articles on economic trends, she writes articles on her families achievements, and reminds us all that this Earth needs to be protected.

resourceful. inventive, and artistic Juanita is married to Andre. They met in a pottery class taken in college. Both have a passion for creating things. Juanita’s paintings are breath-taking and she is a visionist. She helps her husband with his projects. She works on the design research team at Apple. She is hispanic and has named her children both hispanic names, Jose and Estefania. She works from home raising the children and loves cooking elaborate dishes. She wants to spread awareness in the community about climate change.

Kind-hearted, Calm, and Driven. Angelina’s Husband. Meets Angelina in Paris. He is a businessman, he moves to live with her in New York and is an analyst for Goldman Sachs. He is very busy and works long hours. He has a daughter with Angelina and they name her Rosette. He loves his daughter soo much and brings her to work occassionally. He wishes he could spend more time at home and help Angelina with Rosette. He loves to play golf and tennis. Commutes through underground subways.

Naughty, Playful, and Joyful Jose is always running around. He is eager to go to school. Loves environment class where he learns about different kinds of plants. He is usually the teacher’s favorite student.

DESCRIPTION OF TIMELINE This timeline graphically shows the correlation between the range of time over the 3 generations from (1980-2050) and the years between each event of occurence. It gives us information about the timespan between marriages, graduations, and birthdays, and what specific year they occured. Here we can see that in the second generation, the individuals graduated from college earlier than the first and married/bore kids 5-10 years after they graduated. In the first generation Lisette and Jean-Paul graduated later and married/bore kids within 2 years of their graduation. Also we can notice that education system becomes more demanding in the future because we are growing smarter. The future generations do not have to spend soo much time in school and they start working earlier on. People prefer to have late marriages and have kids late because they want to kick-start their career first. It also features yearly highlights to give a context of what is happening.

What did you discover? I discovered that by creating personas, it helps us be more realistic about the future and actually begin to visualize the future in our heads. What were you challenged by? I was challenged by the idea of creating extremely accurate worlds. I was also challenged by creating a timeline that could convey a lot of useful and descriptive information, while not being visually distracting. What did you question? I questioned how people are gonna behave regarding Climate Change in the future. Will politicians come to their senses and realize what is happening is real. What did you do well? I spent the most time on the timeline. I thought that was the best graph I made.
