DEAR SHORE CONFERENCE SPORTSMANSHIP WINNERS,
O
n behalf of the Shore Conference of High Schools we would like to congratulate you on your selection as a Sportsmanship Award winner from your high school. You have been chosen for this honor because of your hard work, exemplary leadership skills, respect for others…all while putting the needs of your teammates ahead of your own personal glory.
Sportsmanship Award Winners: • Set and model the behavior expected of your teammates and opponents on the field of play • Accept and understand the seriousness of responsibility, and the privilege of representing your school and community • Live up to the standards of sportsmanship established by the school administration and coaching staff Athletic Directors from the Shore Conference hold this award in high esteem and are very proud to honor you and your family today as you share in this achievement. Please continue your efforts to promote sportsmanship, not only on the playing fields but as you move on through life. Continue to display acts of playing fair, treating people with respect, behaving appropriately and being a positive role model as this will also help you achieve success in college and beyond. On behalf of the executive board and the athletic directors from all 48 schools that make up the Shore Conference, we congratulate you for this most distinguished award. Good luck in all your future endeavors and continue to lead by example. Yours truly,
Shore Conference Athletic Directors.

DEAR SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD RECIPIENTS,
F
or the second straight year we have been forced to proceed with this program without an awards presentation due to the pandemic and the restrictions that were in place during the planning process. While this is unfortunate it does not in any way take away from this truly great honor which has been bestowed on you by your school’s athletic department, administrators and coaches. The Class of 2021 will have memories to last a lifetime and sadly some of them are not good ones, especially for those who lost their spring season as juniors followed by a senior year filled with daily challenges. However the 94 of you being honored have answered those challenges in a way that inspired others and I hope earning this special Sportsmanship Award as your high school career comes to an end is one you will treasure. I have always felt strongly that competitive athletes like you should have mutual respect for your opponents because you know what it takes to be successful. While others are on the beach in the summer you were in the weight room, at the gym or playing in a summer league. When others go home after a day in school (even a virtual one) you hit the practice field/court/track/etc. and put in a couple of hours of work. You define what a true student-athlete is and while always striving to win understand that handling a loss is part of the process. Those involved in the selection for this award have been impressed with your ability to do that in the face of disappointment. You have also been cited as a positive role model for teammates, especially underclassmen and a leader who can be counted on in good times and bad. You are simply the person your school is proud to honor as their representative and in many ways exceeds what you have accomplished as an athlete. You have set a standard for others to follow, one that is not based on statistics but intangibles like leadership, understanding, responsibility and fairness. This is also a good time to offer congratulations to those who helped get you where you are today. Your parents and families certainly top that list but don’t forget the coaches who helped mold you into successful young men and women. It not only takes a village to raise a child but one to develop a successful student-athlete so make sure you take the time to thank all of those in your village. When you look back on your final year of high school, undoubtedly living and learning through a crisis will be something that will stand out. You will tell your children one day about what it was like and while there was plenty of sorrow you made it through these two years with flying colors which will help you navigate the challenges ahead. On behalf of all of us at the Shore Sports Network please accept my heartfelt congratulations on a job very well done and all the best in the future. Sincerely, Kevin Williams
