THE FARM GATE TRAIL... The Shoalhaven is an award winning agricultural region with many visitors to the area commenting on how green and lush the land is. The coastal climate makes the area perfect for growing all kinds of produce and has led to a strong ‘slow food’ movement which encourages a return to historic farming methods free from chemicals. Many of the regions famous restaurants are now using local organic produce. Some highlights of the trails include oysters straight from the growers at Greenwell Point, honesty boxes of fresh eggs at Terara, berry picking at Clyde River Berry Farm and tasting local olives at Contadino Olive Farm. Farm gates are open seasonally and often by appointment so it is recommended to call ahead.
