A secret place on the edge of the world lured Tim Duffy to create his latest film ‘Drift’.
The region is great because it has an elusive charm. In one way it is a relatively small area where 30 minutes driving will put you in all types of places, yet it still feels like it is big, wide and open. It looks beautiful and inviting, yet it can also be untamed and raw. You can always find or start a

party at night, or in the afternoon with good company, but the days are also amazing and can be jam-packed with adventure in a group, or completely alone. It’s still kind of a quiet, secret place on the edge of the world, yet almost everybody has heard of it, visited, or even lived here, at one time. All four seasons have great charm and could be seen as the best season, depending on how you look at it. I like the warm sunny days in winter, the cool days in summer, but early spring and late autumn are my favourites.
The airport is located 8km from the town centre and car hire pick-up is available from the airport by prior arrangement with Avis.
Busselton is a two hour drive from Perth. South West Coach Lines offer luxury transfers from Perth’s Airport and Esplanade Bus Port four times daily travelling to and from the South West, with convenient connections between Bunbury, Busselton, Dunsborough, Margaret River and Augusta. The best wine, the best produce and the Heston Blumenthal best scenery. We agree, Heston! Savouring local produce, sipping world class wines and swilling craft brews is all in a day’s work ‘down south’. Follow in his footsteps and discover the mastery of our producers. You might be surprised to find out that the Margaret River Wine Region produces just three per cent of Australia’s grapes, but more than 20 per cent of the country’s premium wines. Dotted in between the 120 cellar doors you will find equally impressive microbreweries and artisan food producers, drawing on the freshest local ingredients to hone their craft. Many of the venues have restaurants and cafes on site, where you can sit back and enjoy seasonal delights while taking in the vineyards, bushland and ocean vistas. Join a behind the scenes tour to meet the maker and share in the passion of this wine and food hotspot.

Yallingup and Dunsborough
Explore one of Western Australia’s most exciting creative hubs. Venture down the side roads to find galleries surrounded by bushland, with creations by painters, furniture craftsmen, jewellers and more. Stop at Ngilgi Cave to discover nature’s own work of art. Work up an appetite before visiting the region’s renowned producers to try gourmet food, craft beers and wine. Finish the day with a romantic sunset at Canal Rocks or Injidup Point. You’ll soon see why Yallingup takes its name from the Aboriginal word meaning ‘Place of Love’!
Begin at the buzzing seaside resort town of Busselton and its historic Jetty. Next, take time to explore Dunsborough and experience laid-back down south living at its best. Making your way along the coast, stop to enjoy the crystal clear waters of secluded spots such as Meelup Beach and Eagle Bay. Take in views of rich bushland as you climb up to Cape Naturaliste. Once at the peak, 210m above sea level, stretch your legs along coastal walk trails. Climb the lighthouse for breathtaking panoramic views.

Admire the serenity of the banks of the Margaret River before heading south into the majestic Boranup Karri Forest. The scenic detour via Boranup Drive (unsealed) provides excellent photographic opportunities of the slender, pale-barked beauties towering up to 70m above your head. At Augusta you’ll see the mouth of the Blackwood River and Flinders Bay, where whales play between June and August. Complete the afternoon at Cape Leeuwin, the most south westerly tip of Australia, where the Indian Ocean and Southern Ocean meet to crash fiercely against the cape.
