East Cocalico Lions Club Held Annual Egg Hunt
from 05.03.23 issue
For 86 years, the community of Reamstown in East Cocalico Township has been the site of a Community Egg Hunt. For most of those years, the East Cocalico Lions Club has been sponsoring this event, with the community helping by donating hard-boiled eggs, which the Lions collected when they went door to door the evening before the hunt. For various reasons, this event was in danger of being canceled this year. When the community heard about this, they reached out again to the club and offered their support and help, along with donations of plastic eggs, candy, food, and cash. With their help, 6,000 plastic eggs were stuffed with candy and gifts, areas for age groups were roped off, the eggs were put in these areas and when the smoke cleared, 350 children from the ages of zero to twelve were very happy after picking up the eggs and receiving a free toy. Pictured here are many of the 350 children happily picking up and collecting their eggs.
