Mule pull among fair events this year The mule pull will again be a part of this year’s fair. The Northern Champion Mule Pull will take place Thursday, Aug. 7 at 2 p.m. in the grandstands, and there is no charge for spectators. Mule pulls are similar to horse pulls, but for mules the weight of the pull is based on the weight of the team. After pulling a load equal to the weight of the team, more weight is added in 1,000-pound increments. The team pulling the greatest distance on the last pull wins.
