County Clerk Nancy A. Waters serves as clerk for Muskegon County. She performs marriages and provides applications and fingerprinting for concealed pistol licenses (CPL). Births, deaths and mar-

Equalization Department Donna Beth VanderVries serves as equalization director of Muskegon and Newaygo counties. As director,
VanderVries is responsible for advising the County Board of Commissioners regarding property tax base issues. As an advisory agency, the department has no policing or enforcement powers. The department surveys local assessed values, measures local assessment levels, and calculates total assessed values for all taxing jurisdictions within the county. The department then presents this information to the Board of Commissioners in its annual equalization report. The Muskegon Area Transit System (MATS) provides public transportation throughout Muskegon County. Make sure to be at the bus stop five minutes before the published stop time. For people more than 60 years old or who have a disability, the GoBus is available for transportation throughout all of Muskegon County. Rides may be requested between 6:28 a.m. 10:49 p.m. Monday-Friday and Saturday 9:30 a.m.5:40 p.m. Fares range from $2 in the metro zone to $5 in the outlying areas. Address: Louis A. The Muskegon County Airport (MKG) is a modern, all weather facility serving the commercial, business, and general aviation transportation needs of West Michigan Shoreline region. Commercial airline service is provided by United Airlines (through its partnership with SkyWest Airlines) with daily service to Chicago O’Hare with one-stop access to almost any destination in the world is possible. In addition to commercial airline activity, MKG has significant general aviation activity. MKG plays an important role in the transportation of people and goods on behalf of the region contributing over $56 million in annual economic impact.
