TASK 1: Holocaust memorial: Analyse the spatial narrative of the different spaces/ environments. Closely consider the relationships and connections of objects/ walls/ ground/ light/scale etc. How do the simple positioning of objects and formation of routes change the spatial experience? How does the architecture make you feel both physically & emotionally? How does the significant narrative of the memorial influence your perception? •Define a route through the memorial -make your own drawing of this route in both plan & section. •Draw a story board of the narrative revealed by the route which includes the spatial qualities of this route.

TASK 2: Friedrichstadt: Explore the area of Friedrichstadt and identify a variety of routes which have different narra -tives i.e. spatial scales/ urbanconnection, this could be the entrance to a street or building, along an edge, beneath a bridge, connection to river etc. •Define a route – make your own drawings of the route in both plan & section •Draw a story board of the narrative sequence to accompany the route.

his study shows gradual change of street material along with the Berlin Wall. To look at street material and condition will give various information like difference of people activities, environm -ental changes and so on. For example compare with east side, the
other side road condition, atmosphere are put in order. especially around Potsdamer Platz area ( picture e,f,g,h,i ) is popular place for traveler and a lot of commuter come and go all the time. therefore area is well cleaned also people there seems carefully deal with their rubbish. On the other hand if u go to east side area you will find abandoned small rubish on the street like siggret, plastic bag etc (picture x,xxx) Area from q to xxx is office area. During lunch
time or their break time some office worker throw ciggaret away on the street. I need find out what kind of atmosphere make their action.

TASK 3: Following on from the site tasks carried out in Berlin, your ability to extract a narrative and translate this into a spatial sequence should give insight into the translation of your chosen story/ verse/ comic book/ piece of text/ film/ photo, into a sketch story board of spatial experiences. 9th October: Use the storyboard technique to construct an architectural sequence to build a narrative space model, made up of at least 3 spaces and from a single material, which conveys the spatial qualities outlined in a section of the storyboard.

TASK 4: Using the narrative space model, apply it to a site within the Fried -richstadt and allow the connection between narrative and site to assist with the architectural implications. How does the spatial narrative affect the “place and vice versa? Do both have a connection? 16th October: Identify a character, the user/inhabitant, and construct a narrative of use, describing in detail the interaction between this character, the narrative and the site. With this user/inhabitant in mind, construct another model in which the narrative space generated in the previous model engages a specific place in Berlin and utilises specific site constraints; to test the relationship between, architectural space, narrative sequence, site and occupant.

TASK 5: Consider the narrative, site and user together, how does the expression of the architectural character evolve? Consider the materiality, structure, natural light, scale, use patterns and activities of the context that your narrative spaces will interact with. 23rd October: Make a third and final composite narrative model which incorporates the ideas you have formed through exploring narrative, context and user. Make sure the model to describes the materiality/ textures/ lighting conditions/ structure/ experience, etc.
