FROM
THE

elcome to the Holiday/New Year issue of North Fork Real Estate Showcase. Featured on this month’s front cover, Nicholas Planamento
of Town & Country Real Estate presents what is undoubtedly one of the finest properties on the East End. This majestic Shelter Island waterfront estate is situated on over three acres, and includes more than 300 feet of private beach frontage for the ultimate in privacy. This one of a kind home boasts 16 rooms, a magnificent infinity edge pool and a two-story guest house, all positioned to maximize the amazing water views. Also in this issue, be sure to check out Hannah Selinger’s “The Gift of Taste,” for celebrating the holiday season with some palatepleasing presents; Rachel Bosworth’s “Painting the Waterfront,” featuring Greenport based artist Isabelle Haran-Leonardi’s North Fork landscapes; Ruth Thomas’ curated calendar of upcoming North Fork events; our shopping guide for some great travel must-haves that would be perfect for an upcoming winter trip; and “Sound Bytes,” for the latest on what’s happening on the North Fork…along with a dollop of real estate gossip. This being our travel issue, we have a couple of very interesting destinations for that winter holiday. First up, Alessandra Jenkins pays a visit to Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, which is filled with more architectural beauty than the eye can handle, along with some great museums and farm-to-table cuisine; and Sam Wilson makes a stop in nearby Montreal - perfect for a quick weekend winter getaway. This European inflected city is full of fabulous food, French-style bars and cafés, along with an old quarter known as the Vieux-Montreal,

ARTIST
PAINTING ON THE WATERFRONT ARTIST ISABELLE HARAN-LEONARDI SHARES HER LOVE FOR ART AND SCIENCE BY RACHEL BOSWORTH mostly to art. In 1995 she focused on acrylic paint over watercolor and began creating much larger pieces. The pieces created in her small studio were sold through different galleries, and in 2012 HaranLeonardi decided to try a new model by combining her own studio and gallery space on Main Street in Greenport. Having never really gotten to know the people her work had been sold to before, this venture had a profound impact on her work.
“When the tall ships were in Greenport I
really tried to study, paint, and draw them,” HaranLeonardi recalls. “People were very interested in boats and how they were made. I had some really wonderful conversations, which sparks new work.”
