1.

INTRODUCTION

1.1 OBJECTIVE To apply climate-responsive building design measures, including day-lighting and efficient artificial lighting design, in order to reduce demand for conventional energy.

1.2 CONTEXT Sufficient day light and outside views are necessary to utilize a space productively and feel connected with outside environment respectively. Besides providing significant savings in lighting energy consumption, it positively affects the work efficiency and health. Keeping outside views and day-lighting requirements of individual room spaces in consideration, window sizes will be designed. Overall window schedule will be planned with holistic vision of providing outside views and day lighting.

1.3 NARRATIVE Building design plays a very important role in its expression with respect toclimate and human comfort.The Project owner has developed and the architect has designed the project’s master plan and individual building block design in anenergy efficient way. Please follow the attached reports to understand the overall project performance with respect to the window to wall ratios (WWRs), the day lighting and solar path / shading analysis. It is also recommended to follow Criterion 14 documentation for more details of the project related to energy efficiency. 1.4

INTRODUCTION

Plot No. 20, Indiabulls, is an upcoming commercial project in Gurugram, Haryana, having net built-up area of 35825 m2. The project is aiming for GRIHA-5 star rating under v.3. SOLAR PATH ANALYSIS

Summer Sun Path analysis i.e. June 22. Building is design in such a way that it prevents ingress of heat besides providing optimum day lighting levels.

Winter Sun Path analysis i.e. December 21. Building is designed as per the directions so that it allow ingress of light in Winter conditions so as to provide optimum thermal comfort conditions within the living area & to reduce space cooling demand besides providing optimum day lighting levels.

WINDOW SCHEDULE

As the Project is still in the designing stage, hence the preparation of the detail window schedule is under process. However, the vision pane area has been decided and is reflected in the elevations.

2.4

WINDOW TO WALL RATIO

Please follow the calculation for window to wall ratio (WWR) to demonstrate the percentage of vertical fenestration.Window to wall ratio is the net glazing (including frame) divided by the exterior wall area (both window and wall area). Table3 Calculation of WWR (excluding courtyard area)

2.5 SOLAR HEAT GAIN COEFFICIENT (SHGC) SHGC = 0.25

2.6 DAYLIGHTING CALCULATIONS AND SIMULATIONS. Daylight is a natural source of light, which meets all the requirements of good lighting while enhancing user efficiency and productivity. Abundance of daylight in Indian context can be used to design a space with satisfactory indoor luminance during the day with the help of proper window in terms of orientation, size, shape and number. (ReferAnnexure A) Following inputs were applied before running the day lighting simulation.
