The Curve is Malaysia’s first pedestrianised shopping mall located close to the border of Kuala Lumpur city. Its unique appeal is in its distinct ambience, refined by its wide canopied walkways and its al fresco dining area. Besides, it is also special of its form which is curvy no matter outside or inside the building.
The Cur ve is chosen as the target location to solve the limitation of seat available in the mall. The seat is not only to solve the number of seat available, it also give user a place to have a break while shopping. Hence, the ergonomic is very important in the process of designing.
The concept of MillCur ve inspired from two subject matter which is the coral shell and millipede. Millipede normally can find in moist environment. It will coil up when it get distrub or threatened. Body of millipede may be flattened or cylindrical and composed of numerous metemeric segments. Concept of segmentation is the unique of this design.
The whorl on coral shell is spiral and circular. The curvy line on the whorl is similar to the design of the Curve. Coral shell is an exoskeleton animal live in the water with an outer layer of shell. The shell is hard so that the shell is hard so that the shell able to protect the animal.
The name of MillCur ve is inspired from the concept and subject matter, which is “millipede in The Curve”. The combination of wood and metal in MillCurve provide tough structure and appearance as like coral shell.
The seat of MillCur ve applied the principle of repetition which the plywood is repeated to create a rhythm. The back rest of MillCurve remain the flow and shape of coral shell. MillCurve keeps the natural colour of the the wood and also the colour from the subject matter which is off-white. The colours represent natural minimalism and simplicity.
bq bamboo biochar deodorizer function well in eliminate odour. It is highly sustainable as the biochar is made from bamboo which is some of the fastest-growing plant in the world and widely found in most of the tropical area. Biochar is charcoal made by biomass via pyrolysis.
Miniature art rivets all things to become tiny, very small in scale. Miniature art pieces can be held in hand palm or covered less than 25 square inches or 100cm2. The design of bq uses the concept of miniature which the oil drum is scaled down to palm size.
The form of bq is inspired by the oil barrel which usually recycled and used as a barbecue stove. The form has been modified to a more contour shape. Natural lump charcoal is used as the fuel source in some BBQ activities. With the new form of ‘bbq stove’, the biochar is store in with perforated transparent perspex sliding lids. The relation between the charcoal and oil barrel which used as barbecue stove is inseperated. Hence, the oil barrel and activity barbecue is the source of inspiration.
The container of bq bamboo biochar deodorizer is multi-functional as a toothpick holder. Water ripple bumped texture is used on the surface of the container finished with rusted effect. It is suitable to place on rustic and vintage environment.
bq is in hand palm size which is 150mmW x 80mmD x 45mmH
The container of bq can fill around 150 to 200 gram of granular bamboo biochar. The bq bamboo biochar is refillable with new granular biochar. However, bamboo biochar has long lifespan and it can reactivate under exposure of sun and wind, it only need to refill after abrasion. The perspex lid is perforated to allow the elimination of bad smell. It also slidable to open and close up the container.
Standees are attached to the side of the container. It has two display method which it can be open and close. When the standee is closed, the container will be like a roly-poly.
Children are the pillars of the nation. The children’s cognitive, motor, social and emotional development will determine the growth of a nation. Those developments are very important to children aged 4 to 6 years old.
From an observation in montessori and kindergarden, children like to play lego, wooden blocks and other constructional toys. However, children often fight for the toy whenever they are required to share with others.
Hence, the purpose of this design is to develop children’s psychomotor and creativity skill with the concept of puzzle and blocks.
The logo beside is the trademark for PINO board game. The logo uses the concept of the puzzle interlock. The interlocking applied between each alphabet of P I N O. The colours used on the logo mostly are complimentary colour. It used primary (red, yellow, blue), secondary (green) and tertiary (brown).
1. Each children take turns to play, maximum 4 players.
2. Assemble the puzzle randomly.
3. Before building the “world”, children must choose one card from puzzle cards and blocks cards. The puzzle card indicates the puzzle mat they will be with the specific landscape. The blocks card indicates the number of blocks that they will take. Repeat this step every turns.
4. Children are encouraged to build something related to the specific landscape, for example, flower can be build on soil becuse it need soil to grow and blossom; children can also combine the landscape beside the chosen landscape, the sand + water can imaginate it as beach, trees, boat, villa etc can be built in the beach.
5. The chessman character can be drawn and used whenever necessary.
6. The game end when all the puzzle mats is full.
Puzzle cards (red) labeled 1 to 25 indicates the puzzle mat the children will be in. Blocks card (blue) numbered 3 to 10 indicate the EVA Foam Blocks that children will take to build their creativity.
4 chessman is provided for each set of game. Children can draw some character to help them express the creativity.
In the toy set, children will be have 8 sets of 14 different foam blocks. The foam blocks is vary in shape and colour.
25 pieces of puzzle mat in a set of the toy. The mat is printed with numbering and different landscape: soil, sand, water, grass and concrete. No rules and sequences when assemble the mats.

The emerging of e-commerce drastically in this decade has developed the parcel deliver y industry. The role of last mile parcel delivery becomes more significant in order to add value to consumer shopping satisfaction. However, the rate of failed delivery is relatively high in Malaysia. Centralised parcel locker has been found that are the best-failed delivery solution in term of the efficiency and usability. Yet, users have to make the last trip to collect the parcel locker. In order to reduce failed delivery in Malaysia, a product based on the centralised parcel locker is designed align with theirs’ delivery concern. The new design concept of personal smart parcel locker is proposed to reduce the failed parcel delivery at landed house at the same time increase the efficiency of the courier when delivering the parcel.
The volume of parcels are increasing in these decades and the parcels that failed delivered ever y day are at the rate of up to 30 percent. Failed parcel delivery is not only making inconvenient to the consignee, but also to the courier. Moreover, it brings many effects to the environment and delivery company.
In the Society 5.0, the smart technology is applied to the product; all the data is being saved into the cloud, people are able to diagnose their health problem without traveling far, payment become cashless, many jobs are replaced by a super-smart robot. “Brain” that understand humans’ need are installed in the IoT.
In this project, the market is targeted to the landed smart homeowner as the product user. In Malaysia, most of the housing properties are landed such as a terrace. The rate of failed parcel delivery is even higher in this area as there is no management office to receive the parcel on behalf. The survey data also shows that the majority are from group landed houses. However, it will be an added value if the design can be used in the landed smart home as well as other high-rise buildings.
The design of this project is proposed to be simple and minimalist because it is the best style and concept for the futuristic smart product. Neutral colour is the best for the product. Neutral colour is not in the categories of any warm or cold colour. It is universal and matchable to all colours.
Off-matte-white and matte black are the proposed colour selection of SLOCK. The form of the smart parcel locker is cuboid with a rounded edge. There are two compartments which is upper large compartment and lower small compartment. The door of the upper compartment locker is equipped with an LCD screen with users are able to personalise the screen.
The logo is derived from the product name “SLOCK” which comes from smart parcel locker. The alphabet of O and C in “slock” is designed into a locker shape with the cloud shape as the locker key plug. It symbolised all the data in the system are synchronised to the cloud space. Other letters in the logo are serif with a thin line which shows the simplicity and modernity.
The handle of the expandable locker is invisible from the outside. The size of the locker is adjustable after the compartment door opened.
Besides the waterresistant material, the silicone rubber door gasket is added to the door opening and gap to avoid the water drop flow into the locker. The magnet in the door gasket attract to the compartment body to seal it completely.
An unsymmetrical U-shape handle for non parcel type mail like letter, postcard etc. Postman can simply drop the mail into without any code or scanning required. The handle is open outward to avoid the waterdrop get into the locker.
LED light indicator at the lower compartment. Red light will on when the door is locked. When the locker is unlocked, the LED light will turn green.
A holder for letter type mail attached to the door at the internal of the locker by hinge and magnet. The magnet stick the holder firmly to the door. The holder is holey to allow the user to check and open the holder easily.
Install the SLOCK and connect to the power supply, it will turn on automatically.
Scanner will appear in the screen, courier requires to scan the QR or Bar code of the parcel.
Install the apps and connect to the product.
The screen will leads to fingerprint, passcode or face recognition to unlock.
The system will retrieve the data whether is that correct parcel to correct address and the size of the parcel.
Green light will turn it up when the passcode, fingerprint or face is recognized.
The LCD homescreen, address, fingerprint, face recognition, pass code and notification can be set up and personalised in the apps. Default screen is address and language. Select the language to continue.
