William Arthur Geoffrey Symmonett Jr. better known by family and friends as (Duggie, Doug) was born on the 9th day of January 1950 to proud parents William Arthur Geoffrey Symmonett Sr. WAGS and Pricilla Grant-Glover Symmonett (Kitty), in Matthew Town, Inagua. He was the fourth child of eight children and received his early education at Western Junior and Western Senior high school on Blue Hill Road.
Geoffrey commenced his career at the Bahamas Telecommunications Corporation in 1971 under the tutelage of Mr. Ivan Knowles in the Air Conditioning Department where he started out in A/C Maintenance apprentice and later became an A/C Manager.
He was eager to learn and caught on quickly. He was a responsible, dependable, and a capable worker and because of this, he was afforded the opportunity to enroll in air conditioning classes at Teachers Training Center on Soldier Road.
He maintained all air condition systems at Nassau Batelco Phone exchanges and travelled extensively to the Family Islands to complete maintenance service to all BTC air conditioning units.
Geoffrey was a quiet, humble, soft-spoken man and took pride in what ever he had to do. He was a “Jack of all Trades” so to speak; an Air Condition Technician Manager, farmer, mechanic, plumber, home appliance repairs technician and well-versed in many other areas where he helped his family and friends who needed his assistance.
Geoffrey made an acquaintance with Audrey to whom he was introduced by his cousin at Smiley’s Place on JFK. Of course, his cousin had an eye for Audrey as well but Geoff being a brave soldier took control of the situation and introduced himself and everyday afterward, he would knock off from work and come to Smiley’s Place until closing time just to be around the person he had an attraction for.
After being single for a few years, he asked for Audrey’s hand in marriage and on May 5, 1984, they were united in matrimony. With Vernon, his brother, being the Master of Ceremony, he commented on Geoffrey being all dressed up in his suit, necktie, and shoes and he said out loudly, “Duggie has on shoes today’, many invited guests burst out in laughter as they knew that he was a down-to-earth who always wore a T-shirt, blue jeans, and converse tennis.
Our family life will not be the same without his presence, laughter, and personality as he left to be with your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We love and miss him.
Until we meet again, family, loved ones, friends and acquaintances we say; we will meet you in Glory.

O God of grace and glory, we remember before you this day our brother GEOFFREY. We thank you for giving him to us, his family, and friends, to know and love as a companion on our earthy pilgrimage. Give us faith to see in death the gate of eternal life, so that in quiet confidence, we ma y continue our course on earth, until by your call, we are reunited with those who have gone before, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

A reading from the word of God written in Ecclesiastes 3:1-15
For everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill and a time to heal; a time to break down and a time to build up; a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance; a time to throw away stones and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek and a time to lose; a time to keep and a time to throw away; a time to tear and a time to sew; a time to keep silent and a time to speak; a time to love and a time to hate; a time for war and a time for peace.
What gain have the workers from their toil? I have seen the business that God has given to everyone to be busy with. He has made everything suitable for its time; moreover, he has put a sense of past and future into their minds, yet they cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. I know that there is nothing better for them than to be happy and enjoy themselves as long as they live; moreover, it is God’s gift that all should eat and drink and take pleasure in all their toil. I know that whatever God does endures forever; nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it; God has done this so that all should stand in awe before him. That which is already has been, that which is to be already is, and God seeks out what has gone by.

A reading from the Word of God written in 2nd Corinthians 5:1-15 For we know that, if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this tent we groan, longing to be further clothed with our heavenly dwelling, for surely when we have been clothed in it[a] we will not be found naked. For while we are in this tent, we groan under our burden because we wish not to be unclothed but to be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. The one who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a down payment. So, we are always confident, even though we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord— for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we do have confidence, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So, whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to be pleasing to him. For all of us must appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each may receive due recompense for actions done in the body, whether good or evil.
Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we try to persuade people, but we ourselves are well known to God, and I hope that we are also well known to your consciences. We are not commending ourselves to you again but giving you an opportunity to boast about us, so that you may be able to answer those who boast in outward appearance and not in the heart. For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. For the love of Christ urges us on because we are convinced that one has died for all; therefore, all have died. And he died for all, so that those who live might live no longer for themselves but for the one who for their sake died and was raised. As the body is borne from the church, the following sentences are said: Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and giving life to those in the tomb.
The Son of Righteousness is gloriously risen, give light to those who sat in darkness and in the shadow of death.
The Lord will guide our feet into the way of peace, having taken away the sin of the world.
Christ will open the kingdom of heaven to all who believe in His Name, saying, Come, O blessed of my Father inhis kingdom and prepared for you.

Geoffrey, Duggie, “HON” you were a loving and wonderful husband, friend, soul mate and rock. Not only that - a compassionate, respected father to our children.
As the children grew and sought advice, you wisely gave it but allowed them room for free choice. Your kind, caring and generous attitude spilled over to family, friends and acquaintances. (especially, your dry humor, all you met had a sample of that wit).
We first met at Smiley’s Place JFK Drive. I remember my shyness but eagerness for your visits during our courtship.
You remembered all special events of our lives -Birthdays, Wedding Anniversaries, Valentine’s Day and Christmas - I have all the cards to show for this amazing fact. My grief is immense I loved my life because it gave me you and I loved you because you were in my life.
Goodbye my Dear, sleep on and take your rest, I love you but Jesus loves your best.

You may have known him as Uncle Doug, Uncle Geoff, Duggie, but to us he was Daddy. He was our life molder, protector, life advisor and the daddy we could’ve call on to get advice on just about anything.
Daddy was talented in many ways; from car parts to farming to even simple installation on appliances around the house. A man of many talents.
Know that we will miss your sarcastic random jokes that would make everyone in the room burst out in laughter.
The many nights playing cardsand, eleven points, were our favorite games to sit down and play for hours and hours. We would sometimes miss our days of playing card games and would watch western movies instead. On Saturday mornings when we heard the knockingon the window it meant it was time to get up and cut the grass.
To the man who would always put goat pepper on every meal, we are going to miss you daddy. We can continue to reminisce about you and the good times we shared, but God called you home and took you out of your suffering. We wish that all could have been together to hold and hug you and say goodbye as that was the hardest thing in life that we never got the chance to do as a family.
We will keep your legacy going for as long as we live and always remember the life lessons you taught us. We have our mummy now.
Take your rest and we will see you on the other side.
