DEAR FRIEND,

A field of poppies blossomed across the pages of our last program guide, their sea of red representing a tapestry of resilience and renewal. Each bloom stood as a testament to life’s ability to flourish even against the devastation of our times and hardships we have each faced. In this issue, a single red poppy emerges—a bold flicker of flame carried by a dove against a blank canvas. It soars above the shadows, Where Life Flourishes. This is the promise of Sid Jacobson JCC, made when our founders created its mission and vision and carried them forward for nearly 65 years. This is why we exist.

In this age of misinformation firing up the misinformed, we have a renewed commitment to telling our story, to teaching Jewish wisdom, and to combating false narratives with truth. Facts, we learn, ma er. Please check the pages relating to our Ruth & Saul Weinberger Center for Jewish Life + Learning, page 20, and our Randie Waldbaum Malinsky Center for Israel, pages 11 and 34. If you have teenage children, make sure you visit our Buslik/Levy Teen Services Center programs on page 9, or for a world of imagination in our Youth + Family programs, starting on page 6. Looking to exercise your mind, body, and spirit at our Gershwind/Jacobson Health + Wellness Center? See pages 12, 23, and 28. And don’t forget our ever-growing world of Arts + Culture found on page 16. Their popularity is contagious.

In the last few months, extraordinary donors have come through to name the Centers and Pillars that make a di erence in today’s world. In this, we welcome our Nikki Schwartz Memorial Community Needs Bank (page 32), which provides nourishment and commodities for those in need. We welcome our Linda & Gerald Marsden Social Responsibility Pillar (page 33), which provides opportunities to help communities facing adversity, and we laud our Irene & Ronald Cohen Life Skills Training Center (page 16), which equips neurodivergent young adults with the tools they need to achieve their greatest independence. Soon, we will formally open our Dr. Gayle R. Berg Center for Psychological Resilience (page 35), a sanctuary designed to be the most beautiful space in the building to teach all age groups ways to de-stress and thrive. The newly refurbished Café next door awaits our members and guests with a brilliant new menu.

All this is to say—Welcome to a New Year of Community and Connection. Welcome to the enduring spirit of human kindness that defines our JCC.

Like the poppy that blooms, we embrace our values and extend wide open arms to all people and cultures around us.

Somewhere within these pages, you will find your place. I promise. Together, we make a di erence.

WE ARE HERE TO HELP!
