Dr. Stefanie Simon Named Winner of 20-21 School of Liberal Arts Tenure-Track Award for Outstanding Service This award recognizes excellence in service that exceeds the ordinary expectation of faculty at Siena College and/or is innovative in terms of diversity, mentoring, or advising.
presented a research poster entitled “Does the punishment fit the bias? Lay perceptions of discrimination consequences” at the Eastern Psychological Association’s annual meeting in New York, NY.
Danielle Giordano ‘22 and Dr. Nicole Heller presented a research poster entitled, “Influence of single parent status and number of children on parental attitudes toward play during the COVID-19 pandemic” at the New England Psychological Association’s 2021 virtual conference. Their research was featured in the most recent issue of the Siena News Magazine.

Fr. Dan Nelson’s Llama Herd is Growing Fr. Dan’s 5 year old llama, Klaire, is due to have her first cria (baby llama) in mid-July at Dakota Ridge Farm (Ballston Spa). Congratulations, Fr. Dan & Klaire! Psychology Department Space is Getting a Makeover The Roger Bacon 4th floor is scheduled for renovation soon. The project will relocate all Psychology faculty offices to the 4th floor of Roger Bacon, create additional lab spaces for faculty and student research, update existing classroom spaces, and add a gender-neutral bathroom. We look forward to welcoming students and alumni to our new space once it is completed!
Dr. Stefanie Simon published a chapter in the 9th edition of Leadership: Theory and Practice called “Women and Leadership”.
Dr. N.A. Heller published an academic paper in Infant Behavior and Development called “Infant Media Use: A Harm-Reduction Approach”.
In January, Dr. Mo Hannah was featured in an episode of “Surviving Death” on Netflix. In July, she was also featured in a podcast called “Crimes Against Women”; her contribution was entitled “Deafening Silence: Exploring the Silent Treatment and its Impacts on Victims and Abusers”. Dr. Jillian Hogan Named Winner of 2021 Frank X. Barron Award This award is given by the American Psychological Association (APA) for superior contributions to the psychology of aesthetics, creativity, and the arts.
Dr. Mike Jarcho Appointed as Faculty Athletics Representative Dr. Jarcho joined Siena Athletics as the Faculty Athletics Representative. From the press release, “[Dr. Jarcho] serves as a liaison between the Athletics Department, the Siena faculty, and the College’s Office of Academic Affairs, and assists in maintaining a relationship where all parties work in conjunction with each other.” Psi Chi Honors Society Inducts 13 New Members Psi Chi is the International Honor Society in Psychology, founded in 1929 for the purposes of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology.
