Paul Twardy twardy.paul.f@gmail.com Mike Flanagan started coaching a high school girls varsity lacrosse team in Ojai, California last year. Congratulations to John Glynn, who received the Fr. Benjamin Kuhn, OFM Award for Service to Siena as part of our reunion observance. Well done, you. We continued to celebrate our 50th reunion — as one part of Reunion Weekend, the Alumni Relations Office gave us a Zoom presentation that featured photos of life on campus as we knew it. The way we were. Recollections and tales of life of campus ensued. With apologies to Mr. Shakespeare, “We few, we happy few, we band of brothers…”

Those of us who participated were: Richard Ahl, Mike Flanagan, Al Kovanis, Ritt Schiano, Bob Sharkey, Mike Shine, Larry Stenson, John Ullrich OFM, Grant Lehman, and John Glynn. On June 6, a limited crowd of socially distanced alumni gathered at the grotto for Mass. I represented our class. Mark your calendars for the weekend on November 12-13. It’s Homecoming Weekend. Various sites around downtown Albany will host gatherings as Siena’s basketball season begins. This will be a good opportunity for local and out-of-town alumni alike to come together to celebrate. Let the next 50 years begin. After several years as class correspondent, I am stepping aside. It has been a pleasure sharing Class of ’70 news and helping keep us together as we have traveled through the decades. Pax et Bonum.

Jean Reamer jean.reamer@gmail.com Memories, oh “the way we were” 45 years ago! How enjoyable it is to gather with Siena friends sharing stories that get better each time they are told. I'm disappointed we missed our chance to gather 45 years later and have some laughs, embellishing once more. Siena challenges reunion classes with a giving goal to help support the College's continued growth and advancement which has been impressive over the past 45 years. Please consider a gift to the Class of ’76 to help us achieve our 45-year reunion giving goal. Any size gift is appreciated. It would be nice to see more names on the giving roster.

She later went on to teach elementary age special needs children in Suffolk County for over 20 years and recently retired. Here at the Hayes household, as we all came down with COVID in the middle of a kitchen renovation in the fall. Can you say Thanksgiving to go? This mama is basking in the last few weeks of a full nest, as my son Matt wraps up a year and a half of remote work and plans his return to NYC, and my daughter Erin ponders her next (undoubtedly overseas!) adventure after returning home from two and a half years in Egypt in April. Pat Barry and his wife Elizabeth have been assisting his mother in law with a move into assisted living. In his words, “It is not a job for the faint of heart. Not very jovial or newsworthy, but I bet a lot of us alumni have been through it.” He is looking forward to attending the wedding of classmate Greg Garvin’s daughter in the fall, delayed a year as were so many others. Pete Hansen and his wife Andrea Pedro ’80 didn’t let a pandemic stop them from having a fabulous cross- country adventure. Earlier this year, they relocated from Virginia to Washington state. They traveled over 4,000 miles in 27 days in a new RV while still working part-time from the road. They took the southern route with a few stops to visit friends and family.

They checked off bucket list items, looking for crystals in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and visiting the Alamo. They are planning more RV trips back to some locations for a longer stay at each. They are now settling into their new home with their new rescue Jack Russell, Beau, and are enjoying the Pacific Northwest and being near their grandchildren. Pete chronicled the trip on Facebook with lots of pictures if you’d like to see some of the sights. Does reading about your classmates bring a smile to your face? Elvira Altimari-Jaeger Eaj6@optonline.net I hope you have all been staying safe over the last year, plus. I’m sure I speak for all of us when I say I’m glad 2020 is in the rearview. 2021 brings a major milestone for most of us in the class of 1983. We turn 60 this year. I want to extend a very heartfelt and collective “Happy Birthday” to all of you. I hope you are/ were able to celebrate with family and friends and get a little normal back. My birthday is approaching, and it is miraculous to know that I will be able to spend the weekend with a bunch of my Siena friends. Amazing “old” friends that I met over 40 years ago. Otto Weis reached out about his son Ryan ’21, entering the Siena/Albany Med Program this fall. They shared a pre-med advisor, Dr. Ed LaRow ’59. Guess you can say that is full circle, Otto! Dr. John Walker has been busy this last year as part of a start-up digital health services company, ReviveHealth. He is the CEO & President of the company. ReviveHealth is available in all 50 states and brings much-needed health services to those who can’t afford insurance or are

Makes me think fondly of a countdown party in the spring of 2000 held in MacClosky Square! It’s been quite a year for everyone’s old friend, Avery Stempel. The well-known performance poet navigated the pandemic to open Collar City Mushrooms, an indoor urban mushroom farm growing gourmet nutraceutical mushrooms at 333 Second Avenue in Troy. On top of that, Avery beams with pride about his daughter, Kaya, and son, Fox. Kaya, who was born during our senior year at Siena, was chosen to be Albany’s 2020 Tulip Queen and recently graduated from SUNY Albany
