BRIEF

As Melbourne grows rapidly with the influx of people moving from the country, interstate and internationally. Melbourne has to stop expanding in land size and therefore of existing suburbs needs to change. Medium denisity living has become more popluar in inner city suburbs radiating in a 6km raduis from CBD, with more of a consideration to livable space rather an abundance of mulitple residents. Richmond has one of the most cultrally diverse suburbs melbourne has to offer. With industrial commercial and residential buildings living as neighbours and million dollar views of the city’s iconic Eurika tower. this diverse suburb is one whos potential is somewhat overlooked. The outcome for our project is as a class to redevelop the 8 terraces from 329 - 343 Punt RD. With Each Pair getting one of the allocated terraces to design accordlingly to their own clients. The Terraces have some local significance with one of them being a well known brothel for years, and in an iconic location as its just past the trainstation. The dwellings look out to views of the MCG, Richmond Football Club, Euirka Tower and Rihmond Station. Being a highly active area with punt road being a major thurrafair and weekly football and sporting matches. the Site is highly exposed. The Intension is to design a Medium denisty redevelopment within the existing conditions of heritage overlay front facades and parti walls.

CLIENTS CLIENT NARRATIVE

As I walked past, the screech of the train passing caught my attention as I looked up to watch it pass. That’s when I noticed the new mural, now there were 6 all different and unique, kids these days are so talented with that form of painting, back in my day it was oils and canvas. Punt road was extremely busy today, the commuters banked up and the sound of horns which seemed to be everlasting. As I walked through my front gate I turned to look over at the park I noticed a crowd of people marching like ants towards the MCG, which reminded me to pop over to Rebecca’s to watch the game. It was our weekly routine however They had been away for the two weeks and I had been minding Mitsy, although I forgot to feed her for a couple of days. Sitting down and opening up the paper I flicked through the car sales section I used to own a mechanic store and have always been obsessed by classic cars. Thumps began to resonate through the ceiling, moving back and forth from one end to the other. The new Neighbors were moving in today, I could tell they were going to be in our lives quite a bit as they had already lost their key and knocked on the front door asking for me to open up the back entrance for them to access their studio. Not a good first impression, but they seemed nice enough. Young let’s hope not too energetic. Yup there’s the couch, Rebecca did tell them to be careful of the floor boards. She had decided to convert her design studio into a apartment to rent out as she moved off site to a bigger location. As

He was growing up so fast about an inch a month and started school for the first time. Soon enough he’ll be moving in above me. As I bent down to pick him up, Rebecca yelled out to hurry as the game was starting soon.
