ENGAGEMEN T

Once you've booked your date, it's time to begin the engagement session planning! The engagement session is the perfect way to showcase your romance to your family and friends, become comfortable infront of the camera, and kick off your new wedding planning season. These images are often used for invitations, wedding websites, save-thedates, signing books, decor, and more! Because of this, I always recommend choosing a location, aesthetic, and feel that represents your relationship best. Whether you are homebodies who want to cozy up over coffee on your couch, adventure partners who want to roadtrip to the coast, or outdoorsy campers who wish to be captured on the gorgeous cascade range, there are endless options to capture your love story in a place that feels the most like "you." OUTFIT INSPIRATION

TIMING

Planning the perfect outfits can be a stressful thing but thankfully we can brainstorm together (and hit up pinterest, am I right?). The outfits you choose should help you to feel your best AND provide comfortability. I love pastels, subtle colors, texture, and accessories like hats, jewelry, cute shoes, etc. I always recommend avoiding too many patterns/designs. If you do wear patterns, I would recommend choosing something like florals or options that don't feel too "busy." For colors/patterns, less is more. And feel to bring up to 3 outfits - often people like to choose at least one dressy outfit and one relaxed jeans outfit, but this is dependent on what style works best for you.

Engagement sessions have a turnaround time of 2-3 weeks, so scheduling your session on the calendar with enough time to design your invites will be important. For those marrying in summer, late fall or early spring is a popular time. If you have a longer engagement, aiming for the summer before the wedding can be dependable for some beautiful sunshine and nature. For the best lighting, I prefer to schedule sessions the last two hours before sundown for that gorgeous golden hour light. Mornings are also great during the summer to avoid super hot weather but keep in mind that this is often an early wake up time to catch the sunrise light! LOCATION Maybe it's the place you first met, your future venue, a first date spot, or the place of the proposal, I always encourage couples to consider if there are any nostalgic locations worth incorporating into your engagement session. See the box below for some Oregon spots I love to shoot at.
