Introduction

A word from the director Dear guests and visitors, As you read these lines, you are holding the very first edition of the Anniscope brochure. This publication contains information about all of the activities and businesses related to tourism in Anniviers. It is divided into two parts, allowing you to find information either by theme or by location, so that you can fully take advantage of the broad range of tourist services offered in our valley.

In the spirit of the grouping of the towns of the valley into the Commune d’Anniviers in 2009, and based on the development of existing collaborative agreements, tourist information has been brought together in the organisation called AnniviersTourisme.

The ten villages and four ski resorts of the valley can now greet you under the same banner, with a remarkable variety of activities that you can discover in this issue of the Anniscope.

that allows you to benefit in summer from free public transport, access to the chairlifts and other infrastructure available in our valley, along with guided visits between June 1 and October 31, no matter where you are staying in Anniviers. This is surely a “ must ” for the summer of 2013.

Please don’t hesitate to take advantage of free winter public transport to discover the full diversity of Anniviers, ranging from modern ski lifts to the typical old streets of the villages that have kept all their charm and authenticity. Here, you can gaze down at the valley of the Rhone River, or up at the majestic 4,000 - metre peaks of the Couronne Impériale.You can ride a sleigh down, or snowshoe up beautiful prepared paths in the midst of pine and larch forests.

Chandolin is popular. Without a doubt... Is it because of its altitude that allows to almost touch the sky, and making it one of the highest inhabited villages in Europe ? Is it because of its location on the edge of the pines and larches bathed in the evening by the last rays of the sun when it bows out on the horizon ? Or for that “ je ne sais quoi ” that makes Chandolin the muse of poets, the stop for travellers and a hideaway for illustrious guests ?
