Uta Beyer is a German documentary photographer based in Tbilisi since 2009. Being concerned with issues of habitat and belonging as well as the material world of objects and things, her research and practice focus on exploring everyday life in the city of Tbilisi. KORPUS 18 is a Soviet era apartment block built in 1981 in Tbilisi, Georgia. The building was the first of several dozens to be finished in the area in the early 1980s. KORPUS 18 is a 9-floor concrete housing complex with 7 staircases, each leading to 18 apartment, it is home to 126 families. This book portrays 18 families in Korpus 18 in 2011, 30 years after its construction.

34 წლის ხათუნას და მისი მეუღლის, 48 წლის შოთას ბინა. წყვილი შვიდი წლის წინ მშობლიური სოფლიდან ვაზისუბანში გადავიდა ბავშვებისთვის კარგი საშუალო განათლების უზრუნველყოფის მიზნით. ორივე უმუშევარია. შოთა ჯერჯერობით წლის უმეტეს ნაწილს სოფელში ატარებს, ვაზისუბნიდან 100 კმ-ის დაშორებით. „არ მიყვარს, როცა კაცები გაუთავებლად სვამენ. როდესაც ჩემი ქმარი სახლში ბრუნდება, სხვებთან ერთად სვამს“, ამბობს ხათუნა. ბავშვები, 13 წლის ანი, 9 წლის გოჩა და 14 წლის მარიამი სკოლაში ვაზისუბანში დადიან. კედელზე ჩარჩოში ჩასმული ფოტოა: შოთას უმცროსი ძმა, რომელიც ახალგაზრდობისას სოფელში მომხდარ ავარიაში დაიღუპა. „ამ ბინის შესაძენად სოფელში ძროხები გავყიდეთ. ვაზისუბანი ჩემთვის სამოთხესავით იყო. ჩემი ბავშვები იმ უღრანი ტყიდან გამოვიყვანე, ჩვენი სოფელი რომ იყო“, მეუბნება ხათუნა. ოჯახმა ბინა 5,000 დოლარად იყიდა – დღეს ის 30,000 დოლარი ღირს. საქართველოში საშუალო თვიური შემოსავალი 200 დოლარია.

ძველ ბინასთან შედარებით“. დღეს ვაზისუბნის მოსახლეობით უკმაყოფილოა და დროის უმეტეს ნაწილს სახლში ატარებს. „ბევრი ხალხია სოფლიდან ჩამოსული, არიან უცხოელები, ძალიან ხმაურიანები არიან, უკულტუროები, და გაუნათლებლები. სა­ კუთარი ფანჯრებიდან გაუთავებლად ყვირიან ხოლმე“. ანელიასთან და იურისთან ცხოვრობენ მათი ქალიშვილი, 50 წლის ნინა, უმუშევარი, მისი ქმარი, 50 წლის ალექსანდრე, ფიზკულტურის მასწავლებელი, და ნინას და ალექსანდრეს შვილი, 29 წლის იური, სტომატოლოგი. ანელია და იური, ორივე ერთად, პენსიის სახით თვეში 120 დოლარს იღებენ. შემოსავლის გასაუმჯობესებლად ანელია

35 წლის ალბინა შვილთან, 7 წლის გიორგისთან ერთად. ალბინა ამბობს: „გურიაში ვცხოვრობდი ოჯახთან ერთად, მაგრამ ათი წლის წინ ჩემი ქალიშვილი დარეჯანი ავად გახდა და იძულებულები გავხდით მკურნალობისთვის თბილისში გადმოვსულიყავით. ვაზისუბანში ბინას ვქირაობდით და ჩემმა ქმარმა და მე მუშაობა აქ დავიწყეთ, გურიაში აღარ დავბრუნდით. მარცხნივ: ლოჯია. ზემოთ: დარეჯანის ოთახი. დღეს დარეჯანი 20 წლისაა და უნივერსიტეტში სწავლობს თბილისში. ალბინა ოცნებობს ინდოეთში მოგზაურობაზე, უყურებს ბოლივუდის ფილმებს და მოსწონს ინდური სამკაულები. ყველაზე შორეული ადგილი, სადაც ნამყოფია, ბაქოა. იქიდან ტანსაცმელი ჩამოჰქონდა თბილისში გასაყიდად. როდესაც რამდე­­ნიმე მომხმარებელმა ფული არ გადაუხადა, იძულებული გახდა ბიზნესისთვის თავი დაენებებინა. ვაზისუბნის შესახებ ამბობს: „ვერ ვიტყვი, მიყვარს ვაზისუბანი, თუ არა. უბრალოდ, აქ ვცხოვრობ, ეს არის და ეს“.

32 წლის ნუკრი ოჯახის სასტუმრო ოთახში. ნუკრისთან ერთად ბინაში ცხოვრობენ მისი 34 წლის ძმა კახა, სამხედრო, კახას მეუღლე, 20 წლის თამუნა და თაზო, 19 წლის ბიძაშვილი სოფლიდან, რომელიც თბილისში სწავლობს. ნუკრის მამამ ბინა საბჭოთა პერიოდში მიიღო, 1985 წელს. მამა 15 წელი ხის დამამუშავებელ ქარხანაში მუშობდა თბილისში. ია ახლა ნუკრის დასთან ცხოვრობს თბილისის გარეუბან ლილოში. ნუკრი უმუშევარია. მას თირკმლის უკმარისობა აქვს და თირკმლის გადანერგვა სჭირდება, მაგრამ ამისთვის საჭირო 40,000 დოლარი არა აქვს. მისი ყველაზე დიდი სურვილია ოპერაციის გაკეთება შეძლოს და ისევ კარგად გახდეს. ორ დღეში ერთხელ ნუკრი სისხლის გამოცვლას იტარებს. ავადმყოფობის გამო მთავრობის

ხატავს. სადმე სხვაგან ცხოვრება რომ შეეძლოს, იაპონიაში ცხოვრებას ისურვებდა, „რადგან იაპონელები ძალიან მოხდენილები და ჭკვიანები არიან“. ზურა ბინიდან ბოლოს სამი დღის წინ გავიდა თბილისის ცენტრში სასეირნოდ. „სულ სახლში ჯდომა ძალიან მოსაწყენია, და როდესაც გავდივარ, უფრო შთაგონებით ვხატავ“. გამოჩენილი ადამიანი, რომელსაც შეხვდებოდა რომ შეიძლებოდეს, მაიკლ ჯორდანია; „მიყვარს სპორტი და სპორტსმენები, მაიკლთან შეხვედრა კი ყოველთვის მინდოდა“. ზურას უდიდესი ოცნება 2012 წლისთვის საკუთარი სახელოსნოა.

34 წლის მარიამი და მისი დედა, 55 წლის ნანი. ბინაში მათთან ერთად ცხოვრობს 37 წლის გიორგი (მარიამის ძმა) და 13 წლის მარი, გიორგის ქალიშვილი. ბინა ნანის მეუღლეს, უშანგის (მისი ჩარჩოში ჩასმული სურათი პიანინოზე დევს; ის 1994 წელს გარდაიცვალა) მისცეს 1985 წელს, პროფესიული დამსახურებებისთვის. ნანი საცხობში მუშაობს, ის ოჯახის ერთადერთი მარჩენალია. მარიამი უმეტესად სახლშია. ბოლოს სახლიდან ორი დღის წინ გავიდა, ეკლესიაში რომ წასულიყო. „ერთი სურვილის შესრულება რომ შეიძლებოდეს, პატრიარქთან შეხვედრას ვისურვებდი“.

პენსიაზეა – თვეში 40 დოლარს იღებს. ბოლო ნივთი, რაც შეიძინა, სუნამო იყო, ორი კვირის წინ. ყველაზე ძვირფასი ნივთი, რომელიც აქვს, მობილური ტელეფონია. გამოჩენილ ადამიანთან შეხვედრა რომ შეიძლებოდეს, ალ პაჩინოს შეხვდებოდა, მის ყველაზე საყვარელ კინომსახიობს. დასასვენებლად ნუკრი იამაიკაზე წასვლას ისურვებდა, კუნძულის ბუნების და ანკარა წყლის გამო. დასასვენებლად ერთადერთხელ იყო ბათუმში, შავ ზღვაზე. კახას და თამუნას საძინებელი. 2006 წლიდან 2008 წლამდე კახა ერაყის ომში იყო, როგორც ქართული არმიის სამხედრო მოსამსახურე. საძინებლები მორთულია ომის სუვენირებით და ერაყის ფოტოებით, ასევე კახას ახალგაზრდა ცოლის ფაფუკი სათამაშოებით.

40 წლის ზურას და მისი დედის, 69 წლის მაყვალას ბინა. ოჯახმა ბინა 1985 წელს მიიღო. მაყვალას მეუღლე ორი წლის წინ გარდაიცვალა, ის ავეჯის ხელოსანი იყო და ბინაში არსებული ჩაშენებული ავეჯის უმეტესი ნაწილი მისი გაკეთებულია, მაგალითად როგორც ეს ლოჯიის ავეჯი მარცხნივ. ზურას ფიზიკური ნაკლი აქვს, ის და დედამისი დაახლოებით 100 დოლარის ოდენობის ქირის ხარჯზე ცხოვრობენ. თავისი დაავადების, ძვლების სისუსტის გამო, ზურას მუშაობა არასოდეს შეეძლო. დროის უმეტეს ნაწილს სახლში ატარებს, კომპიუტერთან, ან

25 წლის ქეთი თავის სასადილო ოთახში. ბინაში მეუღლესთან და პატარა ბავშვთან ერთად ცხოვრობს. ბინა ქეთის მშობლებს ეკუთვნის, რომლებიც მშობლიურ ქალაქ ხაშურში ცხოვრობენ. ქეთი სამი წლის წინ გათხოვდა, მისი ქმარი მაშინ 29 წლის იყო. ქეთის ქმარი უმუშევარია; ქეთი ქიმიის ფაკულტეტზე სწავლობდა, მაგრამ ახლა პერიოდულად სახლში მუშობს, როგორც კოს­ მეტოლოგი. აქედან თვეში 100 აშშ დოლარს იღებს. ქეთის უნდა, რომ მისმა ქმარმა მაღალანაზღაურებადი სამუშაო იშოვოს. ოჯახი და მისი კეთილდღეობა ქეთის მუდმივი საფიქრალია. ის ოცნებობს, რომ ოდესმე საკუთარი ბინა ექნება. ქეთის რომ სადმე სხვაგან ცხოვრება შეეძლოს, ისურვებდა, რომ რომში ეცხოვრა ოჯახთან ერთად. „მომწონს იტალიელები, ისინი ძალიან გვანან ქართველებს. იტალია და მისი კულტურა მშვენიერია“. ყველაზე შორეული ადგილი, სადაც ქეთი ყოფილა, მოსკოვია; იქ ათი წლის ასაკში იყო.

43 წლის აზა, დიასახლისი. ბინაში მასთან ერთად ცხოვრობენ მეუღლე, 44 წლის მერაბი, რომელიც ინჟინერია, და მათი შვილი, 21 წლის ალიკა, რომელიც თბილისში მძღოლად მუშაობს. აზა ბოლოს რამდენიმე საათის წინ გავიდა ბინიდან, რომ ცოტა ტკბილეული ეყიდა პირველ სართულზე მდებარე მაღაზიაში. აზა უკმაყოფილოა, რადგან უმუშევარია, თუმცა სამსახურის პოვნის იმედი დაკარგული აქვს. „არ მინდა ფინანსურად ჩემს ქმარზე ვიყო დამოკიდებული“. აზასთვის ყველაზე ძვირფასი მისი მშობლიური ქალაქი სენაკია. „რომ შემეძლოს, უკან დავბრუნდებოდი“. კითხვაზე, თუ მსოფლიოს რომელ კუთხეში ისურვებდა მოგზაურობას, აზა მპასუხობს: „ევროპის ნახვას ვისურვებდი. მე იმ თაობას ვეკუთვნი, რომელსაც ახალგაზრდობისას ევროპაში მოგზაურობის საშუალება არ ჰქონდა. ამიტომაც მინდა ევროპის ნახვა“. დღემდე მას მხოლოდ საქართველოს ფარგლებში უმოგზაურია.

ლალი თავისი შვილიშვილებით – 10 წლის დილარათი და 2 წლის ეკატერინეთი. დილარა ლალის ქალიშვილის, მაკას­ შვილია, რომელიც ანტალიაში ანიმატორად მუშაობს. ეკატერინე ლალის უფროსი ქალიშვილის, ეკატერინეს შვილია, რომელიც ამავე ბინაში ცხოვრობს მეუღლესთან, სოსოსთან ერთად. სოსო პროფესიონალი მორაგბეა. ლალის ვაჟი თეიმურაზი და მისი ცოლი ანა აქვე ცხოვრობენ. ბინა ლალის და მის გარდაცვლილ მეუღლეს კომპენსაციის სახით მისცეს 1984 წელს, როცა მათი სახლი თბილისის გარეუბან აფრიკაში დაანგრიეს. ლალის მეუღლე ამწის მემანქანე იყო და მშნებლობებზე მუშობდა. ის 2003 წელს გარდაიცვალა. მისი ფოტოები სანთლებთან ერთად სასტუმრო ოთახის ბუფეტს ამშვენებს.

25 წლის ილონა და მისი 1 წლის ქალიშვილი ლანა. ბინაში მათთან ერთად ცხოვრობს ილონას 29 წლის მეუღლე სამუელა, მათი მეორე ქალიშვილი, 7 წლის ანი და სამუელას დედა ოფელია, 53 წლის. ილონა დიასახლისია, მისი მეუღლე სამუელა – ავტომექანიკოსი; ოფელია მაღაზიის მფლობელია. ბინა ოფელიამ მიიღო 1981 წელს, როდესაც მას ტყუპები შეეძინა – ეს უპირატესობა იყო ბინის მიღებისას საბჭოთა კავშირში. ილონა ამ ბინაში 9 წლის წინ გადმოვიდა, როდესაც სამუელას გაყვა ცოლად მას შემდეგ, რაც სამუელამ მოიტაცა. მისი მშობლები არ იყვნენ თანახმა მოტაცებაზე, მაგრამ იფიქრეს, რომ სამუელა კარგი ქმარი დადგებოდა. „დღეს ბედნიერი ვარ ჩემს მეუღლესთან. ის მუშაობს და არ სვამს“, ამბობს ილონა. მოტაცების შემდეგ ილონა სკოლაში აღარ დაბრუნებულა, და არც არასოდეს უმუშავია, რადგან სამუელა ამის ნებას არ აძლევდა. მისი ოცნებაა სააბაზანოს გარემონტება და სარეცხი მანქანის ყიდვა. დასასვენებლად ოჯახთან ერთად შავ ზღვაზე წასვლა უნდა.

49 წლის ნატო, მისი მეუღლე 57 წლის მალხაზი, მათი შვილები – 16 წლის კონსტანტინე და 15 წლის გიორგი. ნატო და მალხაზი ინგლისურის მასწავლებლები არიან. დღესდღეობით ნატო დიასახლისია და მთავრობის მოკრძალებულ დახმარებას ღებულობს, როგორც საქართველოს სეპარატისტული რეგიონიდან, აფხაზეთიდან დევნილი. მალხაზს კერძო გაკვეთილები აქვს. ოჯახს თავი დღიდან დღემდე გააქვს. მალხაზი ამბობს: „ვაზისუბნის მოსახლეობა მხოლოდ იმაზე ფიქრობს, როგორ იშოვოს ფული ბაზარში წასასვლელად. ქალაქში ხალხი თეატრებში და ოპერაში დადის“. ოჯახმა ბინა ათი წლის წინ შეიძინა. ისინი მანამდეც ვაზისუბანში ცხოვრობდნენ. „ადამიანები დასაქმებულები უნდა იყვნენ. უმუშევ­ რობა ცუდია. განსაკუთრებით მამაკაცებისთვის. ქალს სახლშიც აქვს საქმე, საჭ­­­მლის მომზადება, ქსოვა, მეოჯახეობა. კაცებმა რა უნდა აკეთონ? ტელევიზორს უყურონ და ტელეფონის ზარს ელოდონ. სამუშაო ადგილები არ არის. ვისაც შეუძლია, ქვეყანას ტოვებს. მხოლოდ ერთი მეგობარი დამრჩა“. 43 წლის ია, იას რძალი, 32 წლის თეა და მისი 13 წლის ქალიშვილი ნუგო. თეას ქმარი, იას ძმა, ერთი წლის წინ გულის შეტევით გარდაიცვალა. ია და თეა იურისტები არიან; ია მუშაობს, თეა უმუშევარია. ბინა ოჯახს 1986 წლიდან ეკუთვნის. იას მშობლები ნუგზარი და ნანა, ორივე 66 წლის პენსიონერი, წლის უმეტეს ნაწილს სოფელში ატარებენ და სტუმრად იშვიათად ჩამოდიან. როდესაც თეა მოწყენილია, მუსიკას უსმენს ან ინტერნეტში საუბრობს. „სადღაც სხვაგან ყოფნაზე ვოცნებობ, მინდა პაიპაიში, ინდონეზიაში წასვლა. ჩემი ცხოვრების შეცვლაზე ვოცნებობ“. სამზარეულოს გვერდით მდებარე სასადილო ოთახი: ეს სივრცე თავდაპირველად არსებულ შენობას მუნიციპალიტეტმა მიუმატა, რადგან შენობა დროთ განმავლობაში ოდნავ გვერდით გადაიხარა.

70 წლის ანტონინა, მისი ქალიშვილი, 46 წლის ნანა და სიძე, 45 წლის ზურა. ოჯახი ვაზისუბანში ოთხი წლის წინ გადავიდა, როდესაც ამ ბინის ყიდვის საშუალება მიეცათ. ანტონინა ამბობს: „ვაზისუბანში ქალაქის ცენტრიდან გადმოვედით, და აქ ბევრად უფრო მომწონს. მყუდრო ადგილია, სუფთა ჰაერია და მაღაზიებში ფეხით შემიძლია სიარული. მე ხანში შესული ქალი ვარ და მინდა აქ მოვკვდე, ვაზისუბანში“. სამოთახი­ ან ბინაში ასევე ნანას და ზურას შვილი, 21 წლის ირაკლი ცხოვრობს; ის მსახიობია და თბილისში თეატრში მუშაობს. ნანას ხელფასი, რომელსაც ახლომდებარე მაღაზიაში მუშაობისთვის უხდიან, დღეში 8 ლარია (დაახლოებით 5 დოლარი). ანტონინა ექთნად მუშაობს საავადმყოფოში, ზურა უმუშევარია. ნანას მიზანია შვილს სახლი უყიდოს, რომ მან დაქორწინება და დამოუკიდებელი ოჯახის შექმნა შეძლოს.

71 წლის ნანულის და მისი შვილის, 45 წლის ნუგზარის ბინა. ნანულის მეუღლემ ბინა 1986 წელს მიიღო, როდესაც ინჟინრად მუშობდა თბილისის საფეიქრო ფაბრიკაში. ნანული ყოველთვიურად იღებს პენსიას 40 დოლარის ოდენობით. მისი ვაჟი უმუშევარია, სამუშაოს დროდადრო შოულობს. ოთხი კვირის წინ ავტოავარიაში მოყვა, როდესაც მანქანას ნასვამი მართავდა, და ახლა ლოგინში წევს ტრავმით და მოტეხილი ფეხით. რამოდენიმე თვეში დაქორწინებას აპირებდა, მაგრამ ქორწილი ავარიის გამო გააუქმეს. „1986 წელს მთელი ჩვენი ფული ამ ბინის ავეჯის შეძენაზე დავხარჯეთ. 1986 წლის შემდეგ ფული აღარაფერზე დაგვიხარჯავს. ახლა უკვე მოხუცი ვარ. საბჭოთა კავშირში ისეთი კარგი ცხოვრება გვქონდა, ხელფასები გვქონდა. ინჟინერ-ქიმიკოსად ვმუშაობდი თბილისის საფეიქრო კომბინატში, დიდუბეში; ქსოვილებს და ტყავს ვღებავდით, ჩემი მეუღლეც ინჟინერი იყო. ახლა კი სულ იმაზე ვფიქრობ, ეს რატომ დამემართა, ახლა ღარიბები ვართ“, ამბობს ნანული.

Nukri’s father received the apartment during Soviet times in 1985. He had worked in a wood processing plant in Tbilisi for 15 years. The father now lives with Nukri's sister in Tbilisi’s suburb Lilo. Nukri is unemployed. He suffers from kidney failure, and needs a transplantation, but cannot afford the 40,000 USD for it. His biggest wish is to be able to afford the operation and get well again. Nukri undergoes blood exchange every two days. Because of his illness he receives a government pension of 40 USD per month. The last thing Nukri purchased was a perfume, two weeks ago. His most precious possession is his cell phone. If he could meet a famous person, he would like to meet Al Pacino, his biggest film hero. For a holiday, Nukri would like to go to Jamaica, because of its nature and the clean waters. The only holdiay he has spent before was in Batumi on the Black Sea.

KORPUS 18 is a Soviet era apartment block built in 1981 in Tbilisi, Georgia. The building was the first of several dozens to be finished in the area in the early 1980s. Korpus 18 is a 9-floor concrete housing complex with 7 staircases, each leading to 18 apartments, it is home to 126 families. This book portrays 18 families in Korpus 18 in 2011, 30 years after its construction.
