Happy New Year!
MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
No, I haven’t confused July with January. The Spokane Club Annual Meeting was held recently on June 20, 2023, and that means one year ends for the Club and a New Year begins: a new fiscal year, a new budget, and a new Board of Trustees.
Returning to serve a second year on the Board are Randy Berg, Laura Goetsch, Jim Murphy, and Shae Blackwell, who will also be serving as Secretary in ‘23-‘24. Starting their first year on the Board are Connie Christilaw, Eileen O’Donnell, Ellie LaRocca, Joe Wessman, Larry Davis, Steve Watts, and Ted Phelps. Other Officers are Lesley Gangelhoff, Chair-elect and Vice-chair; Mark Ostersmith, Treasurer; Jack Lucas, Past President; and myself as Chair.
Thanks to Deb Brock, Eldonna Shaw-Davis, Meg Lindsay, Collins Sprague, and Ross Blevins for their last year of service on the Board during ‘22-‘23. We greatly appreciated their time and talents.
There are some new projects that Spokane Club Member-Owners may notice. The entry to the Clubhouse Building is being renovated and our
main entrance should be looking brand new before the end of the year. The parking lot serving the Athletic Building has been cleaned and restriped. Not only are these improvements necessary for the maintenance of the Club but they are need to reflect the pride all MemberOwners should have in the Club’s appearance. There may be plans to update the lap pool area, the child care center, and the 1910 kitchen as well as continuing improvements to our Hotel rooms so be alert for those changes.
If you see something in the locker rooms, the workout rooms, the courts, the meeting rooms, or the restaurant that needs to be replaced or repaired, please tell the staff about the item. With all of your eyes, we can make sure that our Spokane Club is in tip-top shape.
Have a great Summer!
Bruce A. Hunt Chair of the Board of Trustees, ‘23-‘24 Bruce Hunt Board ChairMeet the Employees of the Month!
Heather was nominated by her manager who said "During my recent absence for my honeymoon, Heather stepped up and covered my role with exceptional dedication and efficiency. She demonstrated her ability to take on additional responsibilities and manage the workload with ease. Heather's efforts ensured that our marketing operations continued to run smoothly, and her contributions were invaluable in keeping campaigns running at the Club. The last week of the month is usually our most hectic week for Marketing, with new athletic schedules going out, social events calendars released, and end-of-month communications being sent so not only did she handle those with ease but she also kept up with her regular work-load in addition to mine. Her commitment and willingness to go above and beyond makes her an amazing employee of the month this month and every month of the year."
Pete's exceptional work ethic, dedication, and positive attitude have made him a true inspiration to his colleagues and a valuable asset to our team here at the Spokane Club. Pete's unwavering commitment to his craft is evident in every dish he prepares. His culinary expertise, coupled with his passion for creating memorable dining experiences, has consistently delighted our members and guests. Pete's attention to detail and ability to balance flavors have elevated our culinary offerings, making the Spokane Club a sought-after dining destination. However, it's not just Pete's culinary skills that set him apart. His infectious positive attitude and friendly demeanor have made him a favorite among both staff and members. He brings a sense of joy and camaraderie to the kitchen, creating a supportive and collaborative work environment. Pete's uplifting spirit has a ripple effect, boosting morale and fostering a sense of unity within the team. The Spokane Club is proud to have Pete as part of our team. His dedication, professionalism, and positive attitude embody our commitment to providing exceptional service and creating memorable experiences for our members. He is a true role model for all of us.
HEATHER ROSS PETE WILCOXTo the Membership
I hope this letter finds you well and enjoying the summer season at Spokane Club! As we step into the new fiscal year, I am thrilled to share with you the exciting plans and initiatives we have in store to make your membership experience even more remarkable.
First and foremost, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for your unwavering support throughout the past year. It has been an incredible journey with the club being net positive in membership numbers after 18 years, and your dedication to Spokane Club has played a crucial role in making it a thriving and vibrant community.
Looking ahead, our team has been hard at work, brainstorming and curating a range of new and thrilling activities and events for all age groups. We are dedicated to ensuring that there is something for everyone to enjoy. From fitness classes and sports tournaments to art workshops and wine tastings, we have carefully crafted an exciting calendar that reflects the diverse interests of our esteemed membership.
One of the highlights for the upcoming year is the renovation project we have planned. Our goal is to enhance your overall experience at the Club by upgrading various facilities and amenities. We are excited to create a more welcoming and modern environment for you to relax, socialize, and indulge in your favorite activities. We are in the works to refresh the pool, Kids Club, lockers, dining room, and bar this year in addition to the projects which are already in progress like the façade of the Clubhouse. There is also some new workout equipment we have ordered as per popular demand.
In addition to these physical improvements, we continue investing in the latest technology to streamline our operations by introducing ADP as our new staff management software. This new software transition, which is actually slightly cheaper than the one we currently use, will empower all managers and staff to operate more efficiently and will bring more convenience to your membership journey through better staff management.
Harmukh ‘Molly’ Sandhu General ManagerMESSAGE FROM THE GM
None of this would have been possible without the dedication and hard work of our incredible staff. Their commitment to providing exceptional service and fostering a warm, friendly atmosphere has been instrumental in making Spokane Club the special place that it is. Join me in expressing our sincere appreciation to our staff for their dedication throughout the year. In the new fiscal year, we have also restructured our management team to be able to serve our membership better. Our Club Director Chase Winkler, will be taking charge of the Clubhouse side supported by Jackie, Travis, Justin, and Dan. Our other Club Director Chris Barry will be taking charge of the Athletic side supported by Nathaniel, Tracey, and Thomas.
As we move forward into the new fiscal year, we are eager to hear your thoughts and ideas. Your feedback is invaluable to us as we strive to continually improve and tailor our offerings to meet your expectations and preferences. Don't hesitate to share your suggestions with us through our feedback channels, which are always open and receptive.
Wishing you a fantastic summer season.
Warmest Regards, Harmukh ‘Molly’ Sandhu (331) 210-4105

Spokane Club Cares
In late 2022, Rose Peters, our wonderful Member Services Director, was diagnosed with cancer, and her world turned upside down. As she bravely battles this disease, we want to come together to support her in any way we can. Rose has been an inspiration to so many in the running community, sharing her love for the sport and her passion for all things Disney on her popular YouTube channel. Her positive energy and uplifting spirit have touched the lives of countless people, and now it's time for us to give back.
We are asking for your help to raise funds to support Rose's cancer treatment. Medical bills can be overwhelming, and we want to make sure Rose can focus on her health without the added stress of financial burden. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a difference and be greatly appreciated. Please consider donating to support her in this challenging time. Let's fight this battle together! Membership Committee Notes
We are very excited to say that membership at the Spokane Club for the end of the fiscal year 2022-2023 was positive 17 memberships! It is the first time in 18 years that we've ended with positive membership growth. We also ended the fiscal year with seven consecutive months of net positive growth.
In August, the Club will be running a membership promotion, where a member receives a month of free dues for referring a new member and the new member receives a $250.00 credit to use around the Club.
As you may know, summer is typically slow for membership, so please spread the word about the Club to all your family, friends, and neighbors. We have big membership goals for this new fiscal year and will need your help to achieve them. Have a great summer and I look forward to seeing you around the Club!

Meet Natelie Windsor, Personal Trainer at the Club!
"When I was in high school, I thought working out in a gym by myself was intimidating - I had no idea where to start. However, when I took an Intro to Weights class during my senior year, I began to love exercise and I have been lifting ever since. Fitness has taught me what diligence and commitment looks like. I have become a better daughter, sister, friend, and teacher, through my health journey. I want to help support and encourage others to be the best versions of themselves too. My past experience with working out has motivated me to specialize in introductory strength training so that I can help make the gym less intimidating for my clients."

Antonia Tombari: Breaking Boundaries in Wellness
Antonia Tombari’s unwavering commitment to healing and community is evident in every aspect of her life. Originally hailing from San Francisco, California, Antonia has called Spokane home for the past 11 1/2 years, where she has embraced her role as a mother, psychotherapist, and enthusiastic member of the Spokane Club. She's also the owner of two businesses, Antonia Tombari and Associates, PLLC, and Luminosity.
Antonia's journey into the world of healing and wellness started with her passion for helping others. Antonia began in forensic psychotherapy, working in demanding environments like jails and prisons, and was driven to make a difference in a system where incarcerated individuals are often neglected. The gratification and reward she found in her work with these individuals inspired her to continue helping people after transitioning to private practice. As an EMDR psychotherapist, she specializes in working with trauma survivors, utilizing the highly effective Eye Movement
Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. Her expertise in this field has made a tremendous difference in the lives of many, allowing clients to overcome deeply ingrained trauma in a much shorter time frame compared to traditional therapies.
However, it was during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic that Antonia found her calling to venture into something different yet equally impactful. Inspired by the desire to provide more accessible healing options to the community, she founded Luminosity, a unique wellness center inside the COR Institute.
The driving force behind Luminosity was the introduction to an innovative technology known as Lucia N.03. This medical-grade device facilitates a psychedelic experience without the need for ingesting any substances. Antonia was intrigued by its potential to provide healing experiences, especially at a time when people were facing

increased stress and mental health challenges during the pandemic.
With the Lucia light technology, Antonia discovered a profound shift in perspective, opening of the mind, and alleviating feelings of stagnancy or anxiety in her clients. The sessions involve noise-canceling headphones and breathwork to help clients relax before they immerse themselves in the transformative experience under the hypnagogic light machine. “I think we're on the cusp of a psychedelic revolution. A lot of people want to experience the healing that is available through psychedelics but they either live somewhere where it's not legal or they're scared, so this technology really allows people to have the best of both worlds safely.” Antonia explains. Many people have reported emotional healing, unexpected releases, and a renewed sense of wholeness. Antonia shared a heartwarming anecdote about a friend's skeptical husband from the Midwest who decided to give it a try during a visit to Spokane. Despite his initial reservations, he emerged from the session profoundly moved, unearthing emotions he hadn't addressed in decades. Such unexpected encounters with the self are not uncommon at Luminosity. Antonia has also witnessed clients experiencing muscle tension release and even a client regaining feeling in a long-lost toe after just one session. For lasting effects on the nervous system, Antonia recommends a series of six or more sessions.
pathways to well-being. She pioneered the introduction of this technology to the United States as there were only 40 Lucia N.03s in the country at
Antonia's decision to embrace this new healing method was guided by her dedication to helping both therapists and clients find new and diverse
the time. By joining the COR Institute's collective approach to healing, which brings together wellness experts in various fields, Antonia's vision has come to life in a space that streamlined healing options and encouraged self-care all under one roof.
The Spokane Club has been an integral part of Antonia Tombari's life, starting as a reciprocal club visit as members from the Olympic Club to becoming the base for work and play when she moved to the PNW. Over the 11 years of being a member, the Club's support network has remained steadfast, with the same familiar faces in childcare since her son was six months old. “The employees

are such a big part of the Club. They're like the heartbeat of it and seeing the same faces and getting to know the same people is what keeps it all alive and really feeling seen and heard by the employees.” Childcare and social events have made her feel supported and connected, especially during challenging times like the pandemic. As a single mother, she found herself in a difficult situation trying to balance work and homeschooling for her children. However, the Spokane Club quickly provided a solution with innovative approaches to online schooling as Tracey and Sarah, along with the rest of the Spokane Club team, went above and beyond to make the home-schooling experience enjoyable for the children. Antonia speaks fondly, “The Club has shown up like a family member. It has happened so many times in so many ways so I’m eternally grateful. The Club has always been here for me and I really trust that it always will be and continues to be in more ways than I even know.”
Growing up with cherished traditions at the Olympic Club, Antonia has carried the spirit of those memories into her life at the Spokane Club. While the traditions may not be the same, she finds joy in establishing new ones with her family. As her kids now run around the Club, exploring and enjoying the various amenities, Antonia is thankful for the chance to share the magic of this special place with her loved ones.
When asked what her favorite part about living in Spokane was, Antonia said undoubtedly its accessibility, a stark contrast to her experience growing up in bustling San Francisco. In Spokane, she revels in the ease of navigating the city without the frustrations of limited parking, sold-out events, or hard-to-get reservations. Antonia values the fact that in Spokane, you can enjoy an Indians game, hit the slopes for some skiing, and enjoy gorgeous lakes, making it a refreshing place to call home.
Antonia's dedication to making a positive impact in her community continues to drive her work and future aspirations. Her focus remains on thriving in her practice, expanding Luminosity, and enjoying life's every moment with her kids. Spokane is truly fortunate to have such a compassionate and innovative pioneer in the field of wellness who brings hope, healing, and a brighter future for all those she touches.
"The Club has always been here for me and I really trust that it always will be and continues to be in more ways than I even know.”

the club. When Prohibition was repealed in 1933, most of the Northwest rum runners went back to their previous day jobs and the government returned to the lucrative business of alcohol management.
A few years later, the Spokane Club welcomed “one-armed bandits” to its basement level. Slot machines were a highly profitable, wildly popular enterprise in Spokane starting in the 1930s and the Spokane Club had the best room in town for “the slots.” The Rendezvous Room with its knotty pine paneling boasted a wide variety of machines in close proximity to a fully stocked bar. The money window was open for brisk business and the room became a favorite gathering place for members, as well as a dependable profit center for the club. It remained so for nearly two decades. Today, it serves as an employee break room.
