Welcome 2021 Buckeye Alpaca Fall Fest Dear Exhibitors, Volunteers, Vendors and Guests, Welcome to the 4th annual Buckeye Alpaca Fall Fest! I am excited that our shows continue to attract both new and established breeders and have become the largest Huacaya shows in the US. We are totally sold out of sponsorships and walking fleece! And there are several farms that are joining us for the first time. I am very pleased with the exceptional turnout for our Small Breeder classes. We have a great show team in place combined with the industry’s most experienced Judges that are excited to provide our exhibitors with a fun and rewarding weekend. Many Thanks to the fabulous Sponsors and Corporate Sponsors that are returning to support the show and contribute to our Live Auction! As we did last Spring, our Live Auction will take place Saturday night in the Show Ring, accompanied by your favorite beverages and delicious appetizers. Bid High and Often to obtain fantastic and valuable auction items and take pride that your investment is helping us continue to fund veterinary conferences and scholarships for Large Animal Veterinary students at OSU. Over the past year, we hosted 2 virtual Camelid Veterinary Conferences, a virtual Owner/ Breeder Veterinary Conference and provided $15,000 in Scholarships to OSU Veterinary students. In 2022 we are planning to fund both In-Person Camelid Veterinary Conferences for Veterinarians and for Owner/Breeders at OSU, and scholarships for veterinary students. We have returned to our normal floor plan, housing our vendors on the second-floor mezzanine of the Arena Complex. Please be sure to check out the vendors, inquire about wholesale accounts and take the time to restock your farm stores with their fabulous alpaca treasures. This holiday season should draw many new customers to your farms searching for soft, warm, and cuddly alpaca products. In closing, I wish to reiterate that I am immensely grateful for your continued support of the Buckeye Alpaca Shows and our Industry!

The retirement of “Baby-Boomer” aged, Large Animal Veterinarians has dramatically reduced the number of veterinary specialists trained to treat our alpacas. Furthermore, the lack of scholarships for large animal students discourages them from pursing Large Animal veterinary medicine. This is why the Buckeye Alpaca Show, Inc., a 501c3 Public Charity, established at the end of 2018, a current use scholarship fund with the Ohio State University Foundation for the benefit of The College of Veterinary Medicine. Proceeds from the Live Auction and profits of the Buckeye Alpaca Fall Fest have been donated to this fund in 2019-2021. The fund provides $5,000 annual scholarships for third and/or fourth year veterinary students who have an interest in practicing large animal including equine medicine. Recipients are selected by the University in accordance with the University’s guidelines and procedures. Preference is given, as appropriate, to students who have an interest in large animals, have volunteered to assist, and/or have attended the bi-annual OSU Camelid Veterinary Conference. Over the past 3 years Buckeye Alpaca Show, Inc. has donated $50,000 to this fund. Ten $5,000 scholarships have been awarded by OSU. The scholarships were awarded to: Michelle Carman, Miranda Hengy, Wyatt Ford, and Sarah Harp in 2019. Wyatt Ford, Sandra Barzola and Cristina Coriano-Perez in 2020. Cowin Mull, Nicolas Fairbank and Sandra Barzola in 2021.
Attendees at the Buckeye Alpaca Fall Fest are encouraged to “Bid Often And High” on items in our Live Auction held on Saturday night, and our Silent Auction which closes at Noon on Sunday.
