Unused Medications? It is important to dispose of prescription drugs properly. If not, they can have a negative and toxic effect on the environment. Disposing of your drugs properly also insures that they will not fall into the wrong hands. The medicines include prescription drugs, over-the-counter pills, vitamins, natural supplements, veterinary drugs, illegal drugs and narcotics. There are several locations that are willing to help you dispose of unused medications. Locations you can dispose of unused medications: SIH Memorial Hospital of Carbondale SIH Herrin Hospital SIH St. Joseph Memorial Hospital SIH Cancer Institute If no medicine take-back programs or DEA-authorized collectors are available, and there are no specific disposal instructions on the label, you can follow these simple steps to dispose of most medicines in the household trash. 1. Mix medicines (do not crush tablets or capsules) with an unpalatable substance such as dirt, kitty litter, or used coffee grounds.

5. Nettle Leaf

2. Place the mixture in a container such as a sealed plastic bag.

Rather than taking medication, consider making some nettle leaf tea to provide the same results. Nettle leaf is a strong antihistamine that will not make you drowsy.

3. Throw the container in your household trash. 4. Scratch out all personal information on the prescription label of your empty pill bottle then dispose of the container. Source: FDA.gov

Unfortunately, suicide rates rise sharply as age progresses. Ongoing thoughts of depression and hopelessness are not considered a normal part of aging. As baby boomers join the ranks of older Americans, the elderly is the fastest growing segment of the population, and hence, the issue of later life suicide is a major public health priority.

Tired of being tired? Fatigue is exhausting! If you suffer from a constant lack of energy and that ongoing wornout feeling, it may be time to check with your doctor. Understand common and not so common causes of fatigue.
