Box of Nightmares
Once I fell into a deep slumber I found myself tiptoeing in an abyss of the unknown In a snap of time appears Pandora’s Box Drawing me nearer, I’m enchanted by its charm. The quietude whispered the box’s intent I’m enthralled by its bait of boundless dreams Like a tamed horse I started mouthing my heart’s desire Then one by one unfolds a vivid reverie. When I wished to take a break from the busy days It granted me a year-long vacation. When I wished to temporarily detach from the world of clamor It enclosed me in a monotony. When I asked to spend more time at home It made me stay there for good. When I asked to have some time alone It locked me up in dismal solitude. Fortunately, I’m roused from that nightmare Never wanted to fall from Pandora’s box’s spell I’d rather tread and toil in reality Than be confined in that ally of haunting dreams.
