Neighborhoods are connected to shopping centers, restaurants and recreational facilities.

round. The Parks & Recreation Department offers everything from aquatic classes to Zumba. Special interest groups, guest speakers, clubs and community special events are something else to enjoy, but if you prefer to spend your time outdoors there is more than 416 acres of parkland to do so. Sports enthusiasts can toss the football on one of the two lighted fields or practice their softball pitch on any of the seven fields. If baseball is your game there are ten lighted fields, including the handicap accessible Field of Hope, and five unlighted fields. Residents can shuffle the ball around on 13 soccer fields, volley on 12 tennis courts and dribble on seven outdoor courts. There is a 9-hole disc golf course, hockey rink, BMX track and skate ramp for usage also.

During the winter months the pool enclosure at the Kedron Fieldhouse & Aquatic Center is assembled. Residents are able to enjoy the two pools year round. The small pool is kept at 91˚. With wide steps, hand rails and a deep end of only 4.5’ this pool is ideal for young children, adults who want to relax, classes and swim lessons. The eight lane 25 yard large pool has a temperature of 81˚ and is perfect for large groups and swim meets. For those of you that enjoy dry land and a good game of golf you will appreciate Canongate housing three golf courses here in Peachtree City. Braelinn, Flat Creek and Planterra all house a driving range, pro shop, clubhouse, a dining area, a pool and tennis courts. Also part of the Canongate family is the nationally recognized USTA facility, the Peachtree City Tennis Center.

Open daily and with 24 courts this facility hosts lessons, leagues and tournaments. We are surrounded by nature mostly in part of the Southern Conservation Trust. They not only own and manage the 1300 acres of land, but they protect it. The Flatcreek Nature Area has a boardwalk and two viewing platforms, while the Line Creek Nature Area has miles of walking trails and a fishing dock amongst the 70 acres of public preservation. These are serene areas for those just wanting to take in nature and get away from the daily hustle and bustle.

Taking Flight With The Falcon RV Squadron By Vern Darley

The Falcon RV Squadron is an informal group of airplane builders and flyers based in Peachtree City at Atlanta Regional Airport - Falcon Field and headquartered at Hangar D-30. The Squadron has over fifty members who are either building, have completed or purchased their own single engine airplane using the Van’s RV aircraft designs. The RV Squadron roots began about 10 years ago, as builders helping one another, in their garages and basements around town. As planes were completed, hangars were needed, and soon the community of builder-flyers had formed. Since many RV Squadron members are

former military pilots, formation flying and aerobatics were a natural transition. For added safety, squadron standards and training was established. Some RV Squadron members have maintenance skills and their skills added to the safety and soundness of the homebuilt aircraft. Each plane is carefully inspected before its first flight by an FAA designee and a flight test period of either 25 or 40 hours in a test area is required to shakedown any discrepancies. After that, the RV aircraft are able to fly most anywhere. An RV-4 flown by an Australian pilot has circled the globe over both poles and around the equator.

Besides helping one another while building and learning to fly these marvelous aircraft, the Squadron gathers weekly at the Mellow Mushroom on 74 N in Peachtree City every Tuesday at 11:30. Visitors are welcome. Unscheduled formations are flown each week based on weather and pilot availability. Fly-outs and Squadron socials are regularly scheduled.

Our Independence Day Celebration is by far our largest event with a parade kicking things off in the morning and a fireworks spectacular bringing the day to an end. Registration for Peachtree City residents, businesses and organizations begins at 8 am on Wednesday, June 1.
