Cast Bios

(In order of appearance)

Emma Waldoch Senior | Elizabeth Bennet

Emma has been a part of the theater program since freshman year and has had roles in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Mary Poppins, Pollyanna, Fiddler on the Roof, and Cinderella. This is Emma’s first lead role. She has been so blessed to participate in this production and is incredibly thankful to all of the wonderful people who have worked hard to make it happen. A special thanks to Mrs. Jonker for the constant encouragement and hugs. She couldn’t do this without her help. “For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.”

Galatians 1:10

Connor Bowman Senior | Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy

Connor has taken every acting opportunity at Silverdale Baptist Academy since his 8th grade year. You have seen him in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Mary Poppins, Pollyanna, Fiddler on the Roof, The Secret Garden, and Cinderella. He has loved every moment of every show he has been in, even when things get difficult. He and the whole cast are incredibly excited to have the opportunity to be in Pride & Prejudice and know that you will love watching it just as much as they have loved making it. “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

Psalm 23:4

Kate Tucker Junior | Mrs. Bennet

Kate has enjoyed theatre throughout high school. You may have seen her in Fiddler on the Roof or as one of the stepsisters in Cinderella, but Pride and Prejudice has been one of her favorite shows. The amazing cast has made every moment fun, and she has loved working with them. She is thankful for all the teachers and staff who have made this show a success. She has loved being a part of Pride and Prejudice as well as all the great memories that have been created. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

John-David Scott Senior | Mr. Bennet

JD deeply regrets not joining theatre earlier in his high school career, but he is still grateful for the shows he has been in. He was first seen last year in Cinderella. He’s enjoyed getting to play such a sarcastic and fun-loving character. JD would like to thank Mrs. Askew for telling him to ask Sarah Beth Underwood to write his bio. “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”

Proverbs 15:1

Sarah Beth Underwood Senior | Jane Bennet

Sarh Beth has made her mark on the Creekside Theater stage in many roles, including Winifred Banks in Mary Poppins, Mrs. Snow in Pollyanna, Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof, Martha Sowerby in Secret Garden, and Ella (Cinderella) in Cinderella. SB is excited to be a part of one of her favorite classic love stories. Although it has been a challenge to make our way through the flowery language and complex character arcs, it has also been very rewarding. She would like to thank Mrs. Askew for letting her rant about anything and everything and for always being there for her. “Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation.” Psalm 68:19

Elizabeth Fraker Junior | Lydia Bennet

Elizabeth was last seen in the chorus of Cinderella. Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her friends and volunteering at her church when she’s not performing. Her life verses are Lamentations 3:22-23 because they constantly remind her of God’s never-ending love and faithfulness. She would like to thank her family, friends, and, most importantly, God for making this show such a fun experience. “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

Lamentations 3:22-23

Melina Stafford Senior | Caroline Bingley

This is Melina’s seventh high school theater production at Silverdale. Melina is so grateful to be part of Silverdale’s theater program and for all the amazing memories she has made in theater throughout the years. In particular, this past year and a half has been unforgettable, and she is thankful she gets to spend a few more months doing what she loves with all these incredible people. Melina would like to thank Mrs. Jonker for always displaying God’s love and everything she has done for her. “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10

Ethan McLaughen Senior | George Wickham

Ethan has been in theatre for six years. You may have seen him in Midsummer Night’s Dream, Mary Poppins, Fiddler on the Roof, Secret Garden, or Cinderella. He loves being a part of the community and helping the productions come to life however he can. “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

LJ Bender Senior | Mr. Collins

This is LJ’s third show at SBA. He was previously seen on stage in Fiddler on the Roof and Cinderella. What an adventure it has been! He finally made it into Theater class after three years, and he finally understands why people write about community in their bios. Bringing life to the characters is an experience like no other, and his character is certainly no exception. He is so fortunate to have Mrs. Jonker as his director and friend. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

Gaven Hobbs Senior | Mr. Charles Bingley

Gaven has been in theater since the 8th grade. You may have seen him as Topher (the Prince) in Cinderella, Admiral Boom in Mary Poppins, Ben Weatherstaff in The Secret Garden, or Jack Payson in Pollyanna. He loves being able to act and sing with his good ole buddy pals. He would like to thank God, his family, teachers, and friends for all the support they have given. “But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”

Luke 10:41-42

Bentley Pearson Junior | Charlotte Lucas

Bentley has been at Silverdale since her second-grade year and has been involved in theatre at Silverdale since 5th grade. She has graced the Creekside Theater stage in Fiddler on the Roof, The Secret Garden, and Cinderella. She loves the role of Charlotte Lucas with her whole heart and is grateful to be able to play her. She would like to thank her parents and her sister, Brooklynn, for letting her run her audition in front of her a hundred times. “In him we live and move and have our being’; as even some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are indeed his offspring.’” Acts 17:28

Kaytee Parilla Junior | Lady Catherine de Bourgh

Kaytee is new to SBA, and this is her first show here. She has been a musician since she was 7 years old. She began by contributing to her school’s choir and auditioning for small roles in the local community theater. She later learned to play alto saxophone along with a few other instruments. At 14, her family moved to Tennessee, where she continued her music education, finishing classical training in voice and her instrument. As she learned more, she started to get bigger roles as she continued theater. Her love for the arts has never diminished, and I’m excited to participate in what SBA offers her. “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” Psalm 23:1-3

Leah Brooks Sophomore | Kitty Bennet

Leah has graced the Creekside Theater stage since middle school, playing Michael Banks in Mary Poppins and, most recently, as a stepsister in Cinderella. Leah is excited to have another opportunity to share the stage with her peers. She would like to thank the students and staff, whose hard work and dedication make these opportunities possible. “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

Lily Pierce Sophomore | Mrs. Gardiner

Lily is a sophomore and is so excited to be in her second high school production at Silverdale! Playing Mrs. Gardiner has been such a fun experience, and she has learned so much in the process. She wants to thank Mrs. Jonker, Dr. Moon, and Mrs. Askew for working so hard to make this show come together and her friends and family for loving and supporting her every step of the way. But most importantly, she would like to thank her Lord and Savior for allowing her to shine her talents for His glory! “You are altogether beautiful, my love; there is no flaw in you.” Song of Songs 4:7

Jo Ellington Junior

| Col. Fitzwilliam & Cpt. Carter

This is the second production in Jo’s theater journey. His first was as Jean-Michel In Cinderella, which started when he made a bet with Josh Baker. “If one of us joins the production, the other has to as well.” These were the terms they agreed to. Never could Jo have known the blessing this was. Stepping out of his comfort zone because of that bet has made Jo more joyful and outgoing due to the demands of being on stage. Also, the friends and girlfriend Jo found in the theater have ultimately brought him closer to God. “‘And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell, where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.’ For everyone will be salted with fire. Salt is good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness, how will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”

Mark 9:47-50

Josh Baker Junior | Sir William Lucas

This is the second production in Josh’s theater journey. The first was Cinderella, which all started when he made a bet with Jo Ellington. “If one of us joins the production, the other has to as well,” since then, Josh has joined the theater class and has loved every minute. Josh has had so much fun making new friends, acting, and growing closer with them throughout the year. “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

Matthew 6:34

Gracie Hood Junior | Georgiana Darcy

Gracie has been performing (very high-quality) shows in her living room from a young age, and this is her second high school theater production. She was previously seen in SBA’s production of Cinderella. She has enjoyed music and the arts her whole life and is excited to have a speaking part in this show. She’s aiming to grow herself as an actress and get to know the theater family even more through this experience. “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds.” James 1:2

Graylen Scoggins Senior | Mrs. Reynolds

Graylen has loved acting since she was little. She has been a dancer in three previous SBA shows and is so thankful and joyful to be in Pride and Prejudice during her senior year. She has met so many amazing people while preparing for this production and has also grown in so many existing friendships. This production has truly taught her so much. “Thank you, Jesus, for allowing me this favorable time!” “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Ella Kate Antanaitis Junior | Mary Bennet

Ella Kate graced the Silverdale stage as Shprintze in Fiddler on the Roof and in Cinderella. She has enjoyed the opportunity to play a character so different from herself while still emphasizing some of her personal traits. Pride and Prejudice is one of her favorite books, and she is so excited to be a part of the experience. She would like to thank Sarah Beth Underwood for writing her bio. “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”

2 Corinthians 12:9

Piper Williams Sophomore | Lady Lucas

Piper has graced the Creekside Theater stage in many productions, including Sherlock Holmes and the Baker Street Irregulars, Little Women, and Cinderella. She is thrilled to be in this production of Pride and Prejudice! She has enjoyed learning about all things acting while training in dance and voice. Piper is currently a student at Jan Lively Dance Company. She enjoys all things Fine Arts. Enjoy the show! “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6

Will Cline Sophomore | Captain Denney

Will was last seen in SBA’s Cinderella. He is really looking forward to being a cast member in the production of Pride and Prejudice. He has really enjoyed working on this show with his classmates and great teachers. “Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance.”

Romans 5:3

Lauren Holt Sophomore | Ensemble

Lauren has enjoyed performing in plays since she was in elementary school. She has participated in several children’s theater shows with Skwalking Heads Productions under the direction of Colleen Laliberte. While in middle school, she enjoyed being in a couple of SBA’s middle school plays and was last seen in SBA’s production of Cinderella. “Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them.” Joshua 1:9

Brooke Millsaps Sophomore | Ensemble

Brooke has graced the Silverdale stage in several shows in middle school and was last seen in Cinderella. She has loved being able to work on Pride and Prejudice with this amazing cast! Each of them has been able to show their God-given gifts through this production. She hopes you enjoy the show! “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

Isaiah 43:18-19

Ali Vereen Sophomore | Ensemble

Ali has been a passionate actor since her 2nd grade year at Silverdale Baptist Academy. Her debut role was Gretel in The Sound of Music, and she most recently graced the Silverdale stage in Cinderella. She loves showing the light of Christ through her theatrical performances and is excited to be a part of this production. “A tranquil heart gives life to the flesh, but envy makes the bones rot.”

Proverbs 14:30

Ali Wheeler Sophomore | Ensemble

This is Ali’s fifth production at SBA, including roles in Little Women (Jo), Fiddler on the Roof (Bielke), and Cinderella. Most recently, she performed in Ghostlight Entertainment’s production of Footloose: The Musical and has become a founding member of American All Star Voices. She also participated in CITA “Christians in Theatre Arts” and received a superior rating for ensemble musical theatre. She cherishes every opportunity to exemplify Christ with the gifts she’s been given. Ali loves her stage family with all her heart, and is so excited to do more productions with them! Enjoy the show! “ The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen.” Revelation 22:21

Grace Womack Sophomore | Ensemble

This is Grace’s second high school performance at SBA. She was last seen in Cinderella. Other shows she has participated in at Silverdale include Sherlock Holmes and the Baker Street Irregulars and Little Women. In her free time, Grace loves to read and rock climb. “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Romans 12:2

Allie Harris Senior | Ensemble

This is Allie’s first show at Silverdale, but she has previously had roles in The Aristocrats, Alice in Wonderland, and The Magic Tree House. She hopes you enjoy the show. “Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” 1 Peter 4:8-10

A Note from the Director

“How despicably I have acted. How blind…partial…prejudiced. I have courted with ignorance and driven away reason. Until this moment…I never knew myself.”

As a society, we are quick to judge others. Whether it’s based on looks, socioeconomic status, style, or political affiliation, we are quick to form an opinion of others before taking the time to truly get to know each other. Social media has made this even worse. We create an altered version of ourselves, which we present to the world, begging for likes, begging to be accepted, and then judging each other through our likes or dislikes. And more often than not, if we are proven wrong in our opinions, we are too proud to own up to our mistakes. God clearly tells us in James 2 that he cares about the faith in our hearts, not the cash in our pockets.

In Pride and Prejudice, we are reminded how this prejudice can lead to miscommunication and misunderstandings. These characters show us how easy it is to miss the truth right in front of you if you are focused on the lies all around you.

This semester in Theatre, as with every production, the students also had to learn to swallow their pride and let go of their prejudice in order to accept, love, and support each other. Some of them had to step back and let others shine while doing the grunt work backstage or during scene changes. Students stayed after regular rehearsals to put in extra work, helped each other study their lines, and encouraged each other through periods of insecurity. Friendships were renewed and refreshed and grew to a point where we became a family.

I pray that when you watch this play, that is what you see! I want you to see the incredible God-given talent on stage but also how these students have accepted and loved each other throughout this semester and how they have strived to be image-bearers of Christ through their words and actions. So, I want to take a moment to thank these incredible students. First, thank you for once again trusting me to lead them and trusting each other! Sophia Moon, Connie Regal, Tiffany Askew, and Austin Gunter, the show would not have been possible without you! I would also like to thank the faculty and staff, especially Alex Denton and Jill Fister, for their support. And finally, I give thanks to God, who allowed me the privilege of teaching these students. To God be all the glory!

Now, let’s get this show on the road…

— Lientjie Jonker
