Walking Against Hypertension 2013, World Hypertension Day With less pressure We walk around the city With a healthier life style To release stress and prevent hypertension

Background Hypertension is the main disease threatening human health, which harms lots of people and covers the world. Currently, every country has a 10%-20% rate of hypertension. It causes headache, dizziness, chest distress and other uncomfortable symptoms, influencing study, work and life. What is more important is that hypertension leads to pathological changes of brain, heart, vessels and kidney, even leading to disability and death. In order to raise attention for hypertension, healthier life style to prevent hypertension and lay emphasis on importance to treat hypertension, World Hypertension League set May 17th as the World Hypertension Day since 2005. There is increasing evidence to show that more exercises can prevent hypertension and control it. We carry out the walking to raise attention for hypertension during World Hypertension Day.

Slogan Releasing stress and being healthier.

Time May 12th, 2013 (Sunday)

Activities Choose a route by yourselves, walking around the city, releasing pressure, eating pears and putting rubber ducks over waters.

Objective To advocate about the prevention and treatment of hypertension, raise funds for hypertension prevention program of Xintu.

Registration fee 69 RMB (activity package includes T-shirt, postcard, badge, bracelet, backpack,leaflet and rubber duck)

Activity Agreements 1.

This activity is aiming to advocate about the prevention and treatment of hypertension, raise funds for hypertension prevention program of Xintu. The public may voluntarily participate in the event.

2.

Before you take part in the activity, please read these activity agreements carefully. Your participation will be considered as your agreements to those rules.

3.

Activities are run as groups. Each group should have a team leader. Team members should obey the arrangements of the team leader, help each other and accomplish the goal of team.

4.

Before the activity, team leader should fully consider traffic safety, weather conditions, distance goal, proper team members, rest places, food supply, speed control, emergency measurements, and garbage collection.

5.

Before activity, team members should check whether you have got proper sports and safety equipment, your health conditions are good enough for this activity.

6.

During the activity, make sure every member is using a unified slogan and our packages.

7.

As a participator, you should follow traffic rules during the activity. Any action, which may harm yourself or others, should be avoided. Please also protect our environment and take garbage away.

8.

Comply with laws and regulations. Advocate our activities.

9.

We suggest you have a voluntary photographer to record your activity and interact with us. After activity, we suggest you upload your photos and videos, share your feedback with people.

Background In order to commence the first doctor finding out hepatitis B, the American doctor Baruch Bloomberg, World Health Organization set Jul 28th every year as the World Hepatitis Day to raise public awareness for virus hepatitis and other diseases it results to. Statistically, there are 1.4 million new patients of hepatitis globally, 2 billion patients infected with hepatitis B and 1.3 million people with virus of chronic hepatitis C. Hepatitis has been the No.1 killer to health in China, especially hepatitis B. Averagely, one out of every ten people have hepatitis B. Not only harming health, hepatitis also has negative impact on patients’ mind health because they get discrimination in education and employment. Thus, we carry out the riding to raise attention for hepatitis during World Hepatitis Day.

Background Breast cancer has been ranked first in the world of roots killer. Each year, over more than 1.2 million women suffer from the threat of breast cancer, 50 million of them killed. Further more, this ratio is rapidly growing. Destruction for the body curve, of a woman's life and the mental health are more sever than the loss of life. Every third Friday of October is the Pink Ribbon Care Day. October is defined as the ‘Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Awareness’ month. More and more evidence shows that regular exercise can reduce the risk of breast cancer; in the meantime, we initiated movement prevention and advocacy activities to the public, and to arouse public awareness of breast cancer.

Background For over 50 years, diabetes has become the global issues of human health, social and economic development. Total number of diabetes patients is increasing 7 million per year. Diabetes is one of the most important cause of death in patients, the number who get killed by diabetes are similar with HIV / AIDS. World Diabetes Day is to raise global awareness of diabetes – this disease is increasing all over the world and how to prevent the disease in most cases. World Diabetes Day is initiated in 1992 by the World Health Organization and the International Diabetes Federation, held on November 14 of each year. It is for commemorating the birth of Frederick Bunting. He and Charles Best contribute to discovering insulin (for rescue diabetes life therapy) in 1922. During this festival, we campaigned prevention and advocacy activities to the public in order to arouse public attention on diabetes and to improve their lifestyle, to prevent and control diabetes effectively.

As a new brand of Xintu Center for Community Health Promotion, the objectives of this initiative include: to motivate participation and organization of sports oriented activities, to promote healthy lifestyles, as well as raise public awareness on the chronic disease prevention. The establishment of dedicated funds and targeted fund-raising activities also safeguard the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases in the community, along with the education and research, and the sustainable development of the project.
