SINGAPORE HIGH-SPEED RAIL STATION AREA DEVELOPMENT Graduate Interdisciplinary Planning Studio, 2017

4

What will happen when a High-speed Rail terminal station lands on a sceren suburban country club gulf course site? It is like a raindrop onto a still leaf that will shake the leaf and even the branch. It is also like throwing a pebble into a pond that will ignite a series of powerful rippling effect. This rippling effect will profoundly change the future of jurong next, West Singapore, the whole country and Southeast Asia. The innermost ripples are those that shape decisions about the future of the Jurong district, which the studio envisions being developed into five distinctive neighborhoods: system diagram

ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION PLANNING

City of Thousand Oaks Active Transportation Plan, KTUA, 2017 - 2019 As the planner and GIS manager in a team of three, I worked directly with the client and the principal during every stage of the project, responsible for maintaining the project database, developing varies spatial analyses, engaging local community, making data-informed recommendations and producing final planning documents.

Analysis Highlights

Understanding the Existing Network Thousand Oaks is a scenic city in the northwestern part of Greater Los Angeles. It has a well-established network of sidewalks bikeways, and transit system. However, US Route 101 and CA Highway 23 are dividing the city into quadrants and impeding nonmotorized crossing through these huge barriers.

Existing Bike Network

112.2

Level of Traffic Stress (LTS) Although the city has a lot of bike facilities, most streets are wide and fast, and there are gaps at major intersections, making the network stressful for the general public.

Data-Driven Prioritization The Level of Traffic Stress (LTS), and lighting analysis disclose the gaps of safe and comfortable traveling through the active transportation system in the city. The following

analyses further identify under-performing areas in the existing ATP system and prioritize recommendations for the most dependent and vulnerable population.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & PROJECT MANAGEMENT KTU & A Planning and Landscape Architecture, 2017 - 2019

Onsite Workshop

Online Survey Map ArcGIS Online's interactive web mapping tool can be made powerful to collect location-based public input, and real-time summaries for community engagement progress. Here is an example survey application that I did for Santa Ana's ATP project in Orange County. This link will take you to the site shown below: http://arcg.is/1jqe5e

Project Tracking Tool After getting familiar with the "lifecycle" of most projects, I created a project tracking tool using Google Spreadsheet to facilitate efficient communication among team members. The team now uses this tool every week for internal meetings.

Highlights the hot spots, and how many comments do they get. Bubbles and count numbers are dynamic zoom level changes.

Progress Summary 10

To Create Comments

It is easy for the general public to create comment points. The site is accessable through any mobile devices. Simply select your comment type, click on the location and type words in!

PROJECT MAPPING

KTU & A Planning and Landscape Architecture, 2017 - 2019 As a Planner/GIS Analyst at KTUA, I also take on a variety of planning projects in Southern California, apart from Active Transportation Plans (ATP), I have also done Park Master Plans and Safe Route to School projects and Community Character Studies. I conduct desktop and field analysis and deliver all kinds of mapping and graphic outputs. Here are some examples of my work in major categories.

OTHER MAPS, INFOGRAPHICS, AND GRAPHIC WORKS KTU & A Planning and Landscape Architecture, 2017 - 2019

In addition, I research local demographic and traffic data, prepare reports and planning documents preparation using Illustrator, InDesign and 3D modeling in SketchUp.I also organize, attend and prepare materials for public outreach events. I recently designed a project tracking tool simply using Google Sheet to help make our project management and weekly meeting more efficient.

SUSTIANABLE URBANISM IN BOGOTA, COLOMBIA Graduate URBAN RESILIENCY Planning Studio, 2016 Voto Nacional is a struggling neighborhood in Bogota, Colombia,

suffering from infamous reputation of crime, homeless, and lack of street life. We propose a pilot program that is a people-first, placebased and re-interprets the Laws of the Indies for the 21st Century, which prioritizes housing opportunities for people of all incomes; empowerment of women & children; safe & human scale public realm; neighborhood & regional connectivity; economic opportunities that create wealth; and sustainable & green environment.

PHILADELPHIA NEIGHBORHOODS Graduate Planning Workshop, 2016

Site Planning, 2016

Southeast Philadelphia is a neighborhood featuring 36%

The former Naval Hospital site is an approximately 30-acre vacant land. It is

foreign born population – mostly Asian immigrants and refugees. It lacks cohesive identity, and centered a failing commercial corridor. We propose to establish a CDC committee, support homeownership, and promote both transportation and green connection.

next to the Packer Park neighborhood, the Eagles Football Club, and FDR Park. Packer Park features cul-de-sacs, accommodation for auto circulation and parking, and green courtyards. We want to establish an urban village that extends this appealing fabric style while promoting pedestrian and bike access to excellent recreational opportunities within and adjacent to our site.

MID-TOWN REDEVELOPEMNT Undergraduate Urban Design, 2014

Midtown Champaign, situated between the city’s downtown and the University of Illinois

campus, is an area in search of a vibrant and complete identity. A proposed neighborhood core – the Boneyard Vista – at the northern end of the Boneyard Creek has the potential to provide that unique identity for Midtown.
