Maker Bhavan - Visual Identity Maker Bhawan provides space and technologies for IIT Gandhinagar students to apply the knowledge garnered in classrooms. Hence, the Maker Bhawan acts as an amalgamation of academic and non-academic pursuits of IIT Gandhinagar. The visual identity follows the idea of this duality and is developed on the concept of interlocking. The strong philosophy aimed for the space helped create the visual aspects of it. The logo is utilises the initials of Maker Bhavan, M and B, which is exaggerated using the colour palette. The colours used in the visual add formality and depth instead of focusing on the mechanical aspect of the institution. The identity was an outcome of intensive iterations of forms to showcase the nature as well initials of Maker Bhavan.

Wall Graphics & Painting Dance Inc India, Ahmedabad approached for Wall Graphics and Painting in their newly designed campus. The brand not only teaches dance, but also the use of the entire body for movement. This was a major concept behind the visuals designed. First, a library of human illustrations were made to show the dance styles taught by the company. These figures were inspired from the core team, each representing their unique style. The human figures were designed to exaggerate the body parts of a human, this visual language was further developed by simplifying the graphics. The colour palette consisted of primary colours which were the colour codes of dance groups for the company. The verticality of the wall also directed the scaled heirarchy of the human figures.

16
The next stage of the project entailed designing the graphics for their trail room. The room was a narrow space for one person to use at a time and plain white in colour. The design was developed to add playfulness to this narrow space. The illustrations were kept minimal yet fun keeping in mind the scale of the trial room. A set of 15 illustrations were made, scaled around 1-2 feet in size and composed on each wall. These designs followed the same visual language as for the wall painting at the entrance which is movement of the human body while performing the dance routines. The colour palette gave the space a playful aspect. Each of these illustrations were first traced on site and then traced to the trial room individually. The execution took 5 days to complete, including tracing and painting.
Folded Elevation of Trial Room The above view shows 4 walls of the room, two of which had a door and mirror on it. The number of illustrations in the set were derived from the space available

Festival Illustrations A corporate firm wanted a set of 40 illustrations of all Indian and International Festivals for their annual greeting cards. These illustrations were meant to be shared formally to their clientele and sending good wishes. Human activities and traditions are an integral part of all Indian festivals. Adding the human form and figures in each illustration exaggerates the performative sentimentality of each festival. Indian festivals are epitome of celebration and the colour palette represents that through the use of vibrant, rich and varied colours. The rawness has been heightened in the illustrations through the use of seemingly hand-drawn strokes. Each greeting card follows a similar design language where-in an anonymous human silhouette performs the core activity of the festival.

Visual Identity A mental health awareness NGO called Maanaw Seva Association, Edmonton wanted a visual identity for their conference. The NGO has planned a conference named ‘Matter of Mind’ which caters to youth, young couples with children and seniors. The client had a unique requirement of using the brain as one of the visual aspects. The concept is to try and achieve a quality of Comfort & Positivity which destigmatize Mental illness. A sense and representation of community & unity was integral to the graphic. ‘Lotus’ is an international flower for Mental Health Awareness. The final colour pallete was designed to convey night and dawn to merge seamlessly with the visuals of the logo.
Initial Logo Idea
One day Conference by
MAANAW SEVA ASSOCIATION
Maanaw Seva Association (MSA) is organizing a one-day conference, “MATTER OF MIND” on Saturday, September 10, 2022. The in-person event will feature lectures and conversations, led by experts from across the country, on topics such as pandemic anxiety and fatigue, social isolation, negative thoughts and emotions and mental exhaustion. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn of issues related to mental wellbeing, how to cope with stressors and hear of strategies that positively impact their health and mind, in the context of their own lives.
Final Logo Design Outcome
Hindi phrase ‘Maanaw Seva’ means ‘In Service of Mankind’ and MSA has embedded this mission in it’s name. MSA’s vision is to sustain development by becoming involved in projects that propel the community forward toward self-sufficiency and to work towards improving the general well being at personal and the community levels. Over last several years, MSA has organized seminars highlighting issues related to health and education, held fund raising events and financially supported many projects locally and internationally. The local events have benefited inner-city schools, the community at large and specifically the South Asian population in Edmonton.
+
The 2004 ‘A Matter of Heart’ and 2011 ‘A Matter of Cancer’ one day conferences, were very well attended by the community including doctors and healthcare professionals. Suitable criteria for safe gatherings will be adapted to accommodate 500 people from and around Edmonton to attend. Hence this is a good opportunity for organizations and businesses to promote their brand and services.
The form of brain balanced with the form of Lotus. The circular outer form to achieve the quality of Unity.
