Howdy cowboys and cowgals! I hope 2023 is off to a great start!! Christmas has come and gone, and we’ve finally gotten rid of the turkey leftovers....hot turkey sandwhiches, turkey soup, turkey pot pie, turkey noodle casserole...the list goes on...I’m glad Thanksgiving is a long time from now....how’s calving going? Boy, you folks who usually freeze your eyeballs must have been doin’ some serious prayin’ this year...I’d say whoever ordered this year’s January weather is hired!! The rest of the winter will just fly by now!
We send our condolences to the family of Ray Kneeland. Ray was an integral part of Canadian Western Agribition since 1971 and his legacy will continue to live on at every show. Ray could often be found selling chocolate covered almonds and trimming hooves at Agribiton. In fact, Ray raised over $400,000 in support of Telemiracle by selling his chocolates at the show!
We also send our condolences to the family of Rodney James, who passed away in December. Rodney was happy to be able to celebrate his 90th birthday in July with many friends and family. Rodney was one of the first to bring Charolais from the U.S. in 1958, was instrumental in bringing Charolais, Simmental and other breeds from Europe, started several beef breed magazines, set up a beef operation in Nova Scotia, and started Purebred Sales Management companies to market these new breeds. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Condolences also go out to the family of Bob Anderson, Tymarc Livestock, Cremona, AB. If you have Tymarc cattle in your herd, give them an extra scratch for Bob.
As we gear up for another bull sale season, we wish you the best of luck. Whether it’s on the road to town, or in the sale ring, we hope this year is better than the last! See you in the sale barn!
