Division III Athletics at Simmons

Sharks are leaders both in and out of the classroom. Our Athletics program puts academics first with special emphasis on leadership development, teamwork, goal setting, time management, discipline and perseverence. Students can even pursue Nursing or Physical Therapy and participate in both clinicals and athletics—the best of both worlds! Unlike coeducational institutions where women’s teams often take a back seat to the men’s programs, Simmons gives its Sharks the best practice times, outstanding equipment and facilities, funding, and undivided support.

Simmons belongs to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. Some of our Boston-area competitors are MIT, Emerson, Wentworth, and Wellesley. In addition, Simmons’ nationally-ranked crew team is a member of the prestigious New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), where they compete alongside the top colleges and universities in the region.

Daly Field Athletic Complex Our athletic complex is comprised of synthetic turf with all-organic infill and a Brock Pad underlayment, making it one of the safest and most environmentally sound facilities in New England. Daly Field features six NCAA doubles tennis courts, softball field with clay pitching circle, field hockey, soccer, and lacrosse fields, and a football field, walking track, bike path, stadium seating, lights, and solar powered scoreboards.

Nine NCAA Division III varsity intercollegiate teams form the core of the Simmons University athletics program. At Simmons, women athletes are the top - and only - priority in the varsity sports program. Unlike coeducational institutions where women's teams often take a back seat to the men's programs, Simmons gives its "Sharks" the best practice times, outstanding equipment and facilities, funding, and the undivided support of nearly 1,700 students who cheer on the athletes and encourage them to succeed in a spirited environment. Simmons belongs to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), the North Atlantic Conference (NAC), the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC), and is an associate member of the New England Men's and Women's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC). All teams take on worthy opponents outside the GNAC such as MIT, Tufts, Brandeis, Smith and Wellesley, among others.
