PROFESSIONAL WORKS

Sardinia, Italy

2022 - 2026

TANKA VILLAGE

MEDITERRANEAN RESORT

Renovation of a wide resort located in Sardinia, one of the major Italian islands. The refurbishment includes hotel rooms and common spaces, consisting of restaurants, a swimming pool and many service facilities. For this project I took care of defining the layouts, developing the plans and choosing materials and furnitures, dealing with suppliers and working with the technical team.

The pool will be constructed next to the Five Stars Suites. The whole area includes a double pond with a kids pool, a decking with solarium and an outdoor bar.

The main floorings are made of outdoor stoneware, recalling the typical finishes of Mediterranean materials.

BREAKFAST HALL

A part of the existing hotel rooms is being demolished to construct a new Breakfast Hall reserved for the clients staying at the Five Stars Suites. This public space includes a main indoor hall with buffet tables and two outdoor patios with a bar overlooking the swimming pool.

The interiors are inspired by the the sea: floorings and finishes have stone and sand colours, while columns and custom furnitures are designed with blue and coral tones. The lighting fixtures integrate woven straw and raffia, adding a natural touch together with local plants and flowers hanging from the pillars.

RECEPTION

The lounge area and welcome desk are designed with colourful furniture and finishes: a geometric wallpaper is used on the ceiling, while green and red carpets decorate the floorings. Sofas and couches are made of bamboo, the upholstery coverings are designed with patterns recalling the local vegetation.

5-STAR SPA SUITE

These luxury Spa Suites are constructed by merging two existing Standard hotel rooms, reaching a total area of more than 60 sq.m. I followed the whole project, choosing materials and finishes, designing the custom furniture and assisting the construction works on site. These rooms incorporate a private garden and an outdoor patio with sunbeds. The inside space is divided into living room, bedroom and a large bathroom that is provided with both a bathtub and a shower cubicle. The overall space features wooden and stonelook materials.

A custom-designed wallpaper with leaves is featured behind the bed and in the bathroom area.

The bed headboard is tailor-made, as well as other pieces of furniture: a large wardrobe to provide additional storage

for long stays and the console in the living room, equipped with a mini-bar. The walk-in shower has a stoneware flooring with a wood-finish, while both the bench and wall covering have a built-in led bar to light the space.

BELSTAY HOTELS

Belstay is a new brand in the category of business hotels. This chain opened its first four hotels throughout 2022, each in a different Italian location. The facilities share a common interior design with similar recognisable traits, while differing in overall layout and dimension. I followed the project drawing the general layouts of the two hotels in Milan, choosing pieces of furniture and finishes and drawing the custom-made furniture.

BELSTAY MILAN - LINATE

The facility is located nearby Milan Airport and serves both as a business hotel with conference rooms and as a stay for tourists and travellers. All the hotels of this new chain feature a “brand pillar” situated in the main hall. This custom piece is made of lacquered fibreboard with a brass finishing. The reception desk was also tailor-made, while the wallpaper behind it was customized to look like a wooden wainscoting. The floorings are made of stoneware with a concrete finishing recalling the urban surroundings.

Part of the Main Hall area is furnished with lounge sofas and large tables for the coworking. The pillars are also equipped with tall counters with plugs. The geometric wallpaper underlines the colours orange and blue characterising the fabrics and the carpets.

The Bar area is designed with a suspended bottle-rack made of brass-finished metal and faceted glass and finely highlighted by built-in led bars.

The Restaurant has a wooden flooring that warms up the space; chairs and tables are colourful and with different patterns and fabrics. Part of the suspended lighting fixtures is designed as big flowers that also work as acoustic panels to lower the noise in the Restaurant.

MODICA BOUTIQUE HOTEL

SICILIAN TREAT

This hotel is located in the Sicily hinterland and includes spaces for both business and leisure, with a large outdoor area. I took care of the project for the swimming pool - provided with a wide decking and solarium - from the layout to the choice of the materials and the construction.

The deck area is divided into different spaces: the poolside with a water fountain and a green wall; the solarium with outdoor furniture – sunbeds and sun umbrellas; and a covered patio with lounge couches and coffee tables.

A little architecture at the entrance of this area includes a toilet, a vending machine and outdoor showers. This facility

appears as a small block with green and white stripes, recalling the appearance of a beach cabin.

The 130 cm-deep swimming pool has a stone finishing and a built-in seating on the short side with whirlpool outlets. The massaging water fountain is placed by the seating. The inside of the pool is finished with an eco-plastic layer looking like a light stone.

VETRA LANDSCAPE

Project designed for Milan Design Week 2019 in collaboration with studio Il Prisma. This light installation was constructed in Vetra Square, one of the central parks of the city. The temporary design consisted of two sitting areas surrounded by light sticks and its aim was to create a safe and social environment to meet people or just take time to relax. Pine wood is the main material of the project, LED bars are built-in in the vertical stakes. I took care of the layout and followed the construction process.

Light Installations

The octagonal shape of the two sitting spots is inspired by the geometry of San Lorenzo church, located in the same park. The position of these temporary architectures creates a visual connection with the historical building.

ACADEMIC PROJECTS

ROLLING KITCHENS

The concept for the new facilities was to use moveable solutions, hence the use of shipping containers as housing units: these modules were designed to be joint together and create bigger abodes, with multiple bedrooms, a bathroom and a shared kitchen. The rooftops can be arranged to install green roofs and even solar panels, making it a green solution. Westerpark has an artificial pond that is usually emptied to make space for the current stage. In this project, a shipping container was adopted as a solution to design a floating stage that can be installed on the water, opening on one side to create a platform for the performances.

Rolling Kitchen is a food festival taking place every year in Westerpark, Amsterdam. The aims of the project was to survey the participants attending the event - both vendors and visitors - and study a way to improve the space and organize the circulation. Part of the project was also to design temporary abodes for the owners of the food tracks coming from afar. I took care of the whole project, which was divided into three parts: a research on temporary design solutions; attending the festival and collecting the reviews; and finally formulating the project.

The different areas of interventions were: the main event with trucks, shops and tensile structures; a stage for the shows; and a space intended for workers’ accommodations.

BEDS ON DISPLAY

EXHIBITION DESIGN

Design of an exhibition for PAC (Contemporary Art Pavilion) in Milan.

Main subject of the showcase was the artistic rendition of beds, with a display of works by different artists. Within this group project, I took care of the selection,  organisation and curatorship of the artworks and made plans and renders for the different areas of the museum. Part of the assignment was also to create an interior layout and to study a visit route.

The museum experience is divided into two areas. The first one is a sequence of halls with beds made by multiple artists and designers, such as Anselm Kiefer, Joe Colombo, Bruno Munari, Tracey Emin, and framed artworks by Italian designer and architect Ettore Sottsass.

Visit Route

The central space features “Two Roaming Beds” by Carsten Höller and a series of wooden beds by Marina Abramovic. Both works can be experienced by the visitors on reservation.

The lighting design was an important part of the assignment and was studied in the best way to highlight the visit route and the showcased artworks.
