The centre of the square raises up with a step and in the morning is a bit like an office, it’s a perfect stage for extroverts, surrounded by chasing pigeons, a place where tourists stop to rest, others just hang around, old men meet each day without fail to hammer out political niceties, it’s a place to stop, read, write, wait for somebody if you have just arrived, you can listen to a radio show broadcast from the square, it is happy hour, time for a break from shopping, a perfect gradient for resting bikes, meeting friends, and, during the afternoon you work on your laptop, surf the internet in remote, though the church steps look more comfortable… no way, there’s nobody there, over on the Crescentone it’s feeding time there’s a meeting under way, and a tête-à-tête with laptops, it’s getting late, tonight I’m playing, finish the beer and we’re off… but… (sitting here drawing) what searing back pain! In Bologna, the Crescentone in Piazza Maggiore is the most important location in the emotional geography of the city. Like a dear friend, this raised step in the middle of the square has a nickname, which conjures up the image of a big fried pizza. Sitting on the step, you can share this urban space in various ways, throughout the day. You can even work. But at a leisurely pace. inviaggiocoltaccuino.blogspot.com
