In the following tutorials, I will show you how to build two Supernatural themed playhouses. The first playhouse design I have for you is a Witch’s Hut. Keeping with the feel of Supernatural, this design was constructed with an abandoned, eerie feel to it. While the second design, a Fairy’s Cottage, has an Earthier, whimsical feeling. Both designs are very flexible and can work with your personal design tastes by changing only small details. Step 1: Start by building your playhouse shape. For this particular design, I went with a 4 x 7 rectangle and made a smaller room (4x4) for a small bathroom.

Step 2: The next thing we’ll focus on is the roof. You can design the roof anyway you’d like. For this one I used the “placefriezes on” cheat to get the roof the way I wanted it. (The cheat is optional, but it’s the only way to get the two dormers the right height.) Be sure to choose a roof pattern that will match your overall design.

Step 3: Next are the windows and doors. I used two different windows (one is base, one is from WA) and the Chamber Door (store). You can place them wherever you’d like, but be sure to keep your budget in mind (if that’s an issue) and remember that you’re building a playhouse, not a complete residential lot.

Step 4: Now we can finish the outside by adding the wallpaper. I think the Flat Wall with Crown Molding (base game, found in Paneling) is the best choice for the look I’m going for. I used the corner molding versions of this wallpaper for the corners. Wanting to give my design more depth and character, I used a different wallpaper for the rooflines. I used the Shaker Shingles (base game; found in siding).

Step 5: Once the outside is how you want it, we can move onto the inside. I like to start with the wallpaper and flooring. For floors, I love the Short, Medium Length Planks with Pegs (base game) because they cost zero simoleons; which is great if you’re on a budget. For the wall, I used the Bella Gothic Paneling from Generations. If you do not have Gen, I would suggest the Wall with Large Central Rounding Coffering and Crown and Baseboard Molding (both can be found in Paneling).

Step 6 Now we can move onto decorating. Keep in mind that you are building a playhouse, generally for children. Be sure to decorate according to the age and gender of the child(ren) you are designing the playhouse for. If you have a toddler, they will not get much use out of items that are only for children and vice versa. Be sure to use lots of toys rather than large furniture items and decorate with appropriate wall decorations and clutter.

Step 7 The final step to designing a playhouse is the landscaping. You can do this along with the exterior painting, or wait until the end (which is my personal preference). You can landscape the playhouse to match the rest of the yard or you can design it to match the playhouse itself; which I have done here. To get that abandoned feeling, I used brambles and other “ungroomed bushes and flowers. Don’t be afraid to play around with the terrain paints as well.

Step 1: For this playhouse design, I started with a 4x4 square (which I later changed to 4x5 so that the roof would fit correctly).

Step 2: Go up a level and add the roof. Play around with the height of the roof if you like (but remember you have the rest of the house to think of) and change the roof color to fit whatever style you’re going for.

Step 3: Next we can add the exterior wallpaper. I wanted this design to look like a tree or like it belongs in the forest, so I used the Flat Wall (base game; found in paint) and recolored it with a wood texture.

Step 4: Moving onto the windows and door, be sure to choose a style that fits the rest of the design. You can always recolor the windows and doors to match. You just need to focus on the style. For this design I used the Once Upon a Time – Quaint Cottage Window (store) and Desert Shield (WA) for the windows and the Magical Faire Door (store). Step 5: Now we can move onto the interior. I wanted it to look like the inside of a tree, so naturally I was going to use wood. I decided to make it look like stacked wood on the walls and so I used the Horizontal Timber Wall (base game; found in siding) and Long, Narrow Width Planks for the floor.

Step 6: Now we can decorate. Always remember to choose (or recolor) items to match the rest of your design. If you’re using furniture, choose items within the same style and recolor them to match. I thought this Key wall hanging goes very well with this design because it’s large and whimsical, which goes with the fairy theme because fairies are meant to be small.

Step 7: Finally, we can move onto landscaping. For this particular theme I wanted to use oversized flowers, rocks, and bushes. Why? Because children are small and will look even smaller next to larger items, and again, fairies are meant to be small. This also makes the playhouse itself look smaller.

Thank you for reading my playhouse tutorials and I hope you and your child Sims enjoy them! Be sure to check out the other playhouse tutorials in my Studio:

Still Silence Cemetery By: Corey Canadian

Still Silence Cemetery used to be a chapel actually... After the tragedy of a bride being left at the altar, the chapel was closed, and turned into a graveyard. They say they did it because happiness could never return to the place. The graveyard is the final resting place of many ghosts that are dying to meet you...

Includes: Two Tombs Brides Room Groom’s Room Confession Room Catacombs And much more!

Fall is here and so are some warm and relaxing outfits! The weather may be changing but it’s not quite time to wrap your sims up in turtle necks and sweaters. Style your ladies in some flattering dresses with cute belts and long boots. Give your guys some nice jeans or slacks with warm colored blazers and jackets. Fall can be a very playful season when you use your imagination .

When we think of Gothic Fashion, we think about black. A lot! But while it's true that Black is the staple of any Goth wardrobe, this can be dressed up with a range of beautiful jewel tones to add individuality, quirkiness and elegance. Deep reds, greens and purples in particular can complement a predominantly black wardrobe. In addition a range of accessories can be used to give every outfit its own flair.

Miss E’s Style Tips 

Research your look. If you want to aim for a particular look or style, do some browsing online first. Google images is a great place to get an overall view of a fashion strand. I found some wonderful creations searching for gothic fashions, some of which inspired these outfits.

Accessorize. While I really wish this was an area in which we had a lot more CC-free choice, we can still do what we can with the pieces at hand. Cuffs, earrings, and necklaces can really make an outfit. Don't be afraid to use them even when there is no bare skin. Sometime a necklace over a high necked top, or a cute wristlet on a long sleeve will be perfect for finishing a look.

CAS is your friend. Recolor, recolor, recolor! A favorite EA pattern of mine is the themed skulls pattern. It looks horrendous in the form EA chose for it, but looks completely different when tweaked to more gothic colors.

Fan Time

Interview by: Rawr2019

1. How long have you been playing The Sims? Honestly I am not sure of the amount of time, but I have been playing since the original. I used to sit down to sim and look up to see it was 18 hours later...lol The spouse was always amazed by how long I could sit in front of the computer. 2. What aspect of the game do you enjoy the most? Why? I love the CAP patterns by Bluemurder and I LOVE to dress lady sims and try different patterns on the clothing to see what looks the most unique and fun. But lately I have had a serious building itch. 3. If you could live in any TS3 World, what would it be and why? I LOVE LOVE LOVE Sunset Valley and Sunlit Tides. However, I would definitely choose Sunset Valley. And I would live on the lot that is at the end of the road right by the waterfall...*sigh* 4. What do you like most about SLM? I can't choose just one aspect. I love Palette Paradise (as I have said so many times lol) and I also really enjoy the townie makeovers. The Spot the Differences pages were a great addition too. I really just love the whole thing and read cover to cover sometimes more than once. 5. What would you say is your favorite creation? Of mine? I think it would have to be Hidden Springs Matrimonial Park or Fae Sanctuary ( A computer issue caused me to loose my truly favorite, because I was silly and didn't upload *sob*) 6. If you had to pick only one EP and SP to play with what would you pick and why? Wow, that is a super difficult choice to make. But I would choose Supernatural as my EP and Outdoor Living as my SP. I love Pets but Supernatural adds so many different aspects that affect gameplay and make it interesting. And I love the outdoor kitchens from Outdoor Living.

Need help deciding what to do with those simpoints? Well this is the place to find out what’s a good buy and what you shouldn’t be in a hurry to buy. These reviews are brought to you by SimsManiac2k9 and VamPanda.

Complete Castle & Interior I loved this set. I felt like this was a great addition to the game because many people have wanted a castle set for years! It gave the game more of a fantasy feeling. Personally, I found this set really hard to build with, but I still think it's a good set and it is worth picking up if you haven't already. I liked the interior section of the set the most and I used it more than the castle walls. It suited the whole set really well and I thought EA really nailed the whole castle theme.

If you’re really into fairytales or love the stuff from Supernatural, this would be a wonderful set to have. I know many people use this to build fairytale castle sets for storytelling on the Exchange and I also know there are plenty of castles on the Exchange if you are like me and really struggle with building!

More Magic

Pictures by Lissykin, link to castle below. http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=4899019

More magic for me was a great plus to the game and I know many other people were overjoyed when the announcement for the set came along. The magic element had been missing from the game for a long time. Since TS1: Makin’ Magic most people have loved the magic feeling to the game, so this made a lot of gamers happy. However, I did feel there should've been more added to this set or it should have been included in Supernatural and not put into the store.

Malleable Mimic Voodoo Doll Out of the entire set this one was my favorite. I liked binding it to other people and causing the Sims misfortune! With this doll you can either choose to charm the Sim and this causes a Lucky Charm for another 24 hours. You can also Curse the doll which will cause the Sim you have bound to the doll to have an unlucky trait for around 24 Sim hours.

You can also set the doll's foot on fire which will cause the victim to jump around in flames, and the last one is Wet pants: Your Sim will pour water on the doll and the victim will then pee wherever they are standing! This will cause your Sim to have an embarrassed trait for 3 Sim hours. All in all these features are pretty hilarious.

Soothsayer's Crystal Ball Using this Premium content you could either tell your own Sim’s future or you can tell the future of a Sim that is on your lot. You can also tell a "Bogus Fortune" which I thought was pretty funny! With this interaction you can get two outcomes: feeling lucky or unlucky both will last 24 hours. The moodlets do reflect on your Sim unlike other items that give off moodlets these are actually pretty useful and do influence your gameplay. Another good thing that comes from this item is that your Sim is given advice or if you like words of wisdom, these appear at the side of the game as dialog boxes.

This item also needs to be used with the "Soothsayer's Seat Soother Chair" for the full effect. Both of these items are fully customizable.

Lord Vladimir's Magic Cauldron Although this is a very good item, I personally never figured out how it worked. My Sim would just never brew anything. Either that or I was doing it wrong. With this item you can add up to 3 ingredients (you can add anything from the store, vegetables you have grown yourself, or ones you may have found). You can then Conjure or Brew a Potion. What results you can get from the cauldron rely entirely on the ingredients.

Clothing & Hair Overall I thought this part of the set needed more work. I liked the outfits and the hair, but I felt more could have been done to compliment the other pieces of the set. As always there’s an uneven ratio between female and male clothing that makes the set less enjoyable. If you don’t have supernatural this set would be a great substitute.

Gothique Living & Sleeping Rooms It’s Autumn time! The leaves are falling from the trees, Harvest Fest is kicking off, Oktoberfest is entertaining the adults, and of course, Halloween! No Halloween is complete without a little gothic magic and how better to get that feel for your Sims than with the Gothique Sets from the Sims 3 Store. Instead of reviewing the Gothique Living Room and Gothique Sleeping Room separately, I would like to look at them together as one. There is also an option in the store to buy the two sets together, so if you like them both go for it as it will save you points. Both are incredibly detailed; the wooden frame on the chairs, sofa, and bed is carved with lovely patterns to add some depth to what could otherwise be some plain furniture. The upholstery is well rendered; nice shadows showing where the fabric overlaps, crumples, and is delicately sewn around the soft, foamy cushioning. It is very obvious that a lot of effort and planning has gone into these items.

We are also offered some gorgeous gothic curtains, which I adore! There is such a lack of curtains in game and they only fit a few windows, but that has been thought about as well. The Living Room set comes with a brand new window, an almost cathedral like window, which of course, the curtains drape beautifully around. The curtains come in two styles - the bedroom giving a longer, more flowing pair that goes right to the floor and the living room curtains give a slightly shorter version which has some very cute tassels.

Speaking of tassels and finer details, let’s talk about the decor. Perfume bottles on a silver tray, a pearl necklace nestled on a purple velvet pillow, a vase filled with dark blue roses and black leaves, and of course, the cherry on top of the cake, a spider inside a round glass case that sits proudly on top of a silken cloth. The decor/clutter in these sets are just divine, so rich in texture and definitely unique - not to mention, ravens, skulls, candles, and one of the most gorgeous fireplaces you will ever see!

Castle Set Interior: 525 Simpoints Castle Set Exterior: 700 Simpoints *10/23/12*

More Magic: 2,200 Simpoints Voo Doo Doll: 600 Simpoints Cauldron: 600 Simpoints Crystal Ball : 600 Simpoints Crystal Ball Set: 850 Smpoints *10/23/12*

If the gothic style is not for you, don't despair as the items really recolor well. The woods can easily be changed to a different wood, the upholstery can be made a cream and you have a very nice modern set. I find changing that the wood to a white plastic or metal and the fabrics to a hot pink make this style work well for girlie rooms. There are so many options with this set, so let your imagination run wild! It also looks great recolored with pale blues for a cool icy effect. Try it out!

Sweet Treats Contest Winner Interview by: Rawr2019 A very good friend of mine, Seascape decided to host a contest for the Katy Perry Sweet Treats Stuff Pack. I volunteered to help judge and also wanted to interview the winner for this issue. Here’s the short interview I had with Corettabarajas about her lot Party Sweet. What inspired you to build this lot?

How long have you been playing The Sims 3? I have been playing the Sims 3 since July 2009, but only recently became involved in the forums.

Well, this contest sounded like a lot of fun! I had never built anything like this before and I love a new challenge! I had a couple new pieces of Premium content, the Frost-Bite Pro Ice Cream Machine (a gift from stikystuff) and the Aims Co. Choc-O-Falls Fountain (a gift from Sadistwitch), this contest was the perfect opportunity to use them! I also thought it would be fun for my Sims to have a fun place to throw birthday parties for the kids without having to redecorate my Sim’s house.

What would you say as the hardest part about building this lot? For me the hardest thing about building ANY lot is starting! Putting down the foundation is a big commitment to me lol I usually have a very vague picture in my head, mostly just colors. Once I get the foundation laid it really just starts building itself... until I get to the landscaping. That would be the second hardest part, mostly just starting it. Once I place a few bushes and some terrain paint the rest seems to just come along.

If you had to pick one store set you like the most, what would it be and why? One set... there are SO many! Okay, just one... The one I seem to pull objects from the most in my builds is probably the Ultra Lounge set. I love the lines in the design of this set and it lends itself very well to recolors to create many different looks. Now that you have the Katy Perry Sweet Treats Game, what kind of creations can we expect from you? Before this contest came along I hadn't thought much about this Stuff Pack, but once I did decide to enter I started imagining all the things I could create for the holidays! Building a gingerbread house just became a very intriguing possibility for me!
