APP OF THE MONTH
AMAZON PHOTOS
RETURNING TO THE DAYS OF PHYSICAL MEMORIES
The gist: 600. That’s the average number of pictures people keep on their phone at any given time. My number is 200, but a month ago, it was closer to 450. And I have Amazon Photos to thank for my more organized, faster-performing phone.
The free app allows you to checkmark which photos to permanently store off-phone, then gives you the option to order prints. You can select from matte or glossy, various standard sizes (4x6, 5x7, etc.), and even personalized photo gifts, like calendars and greeting cards. The Photos app links up with your Prime account, making ordering quick and easy. I’ve ordered four batches of pictures so far, and each time they’ve arrived within a few days of ordering. The print quality isn’t perfect, but at 12 cents a pic, I won’t complain. (Or maybe it’s my iPhone 5 that’s the problem, but I’m keeping it!) Now I’m making photo albums with the prints for more permanent “memory storage” and for sharing with family and friends.
