A FRIENDLY QUESTION

Is it okay to not have a friends group? I have friends but they all belong to different circles. You’ll never see me laughing it up with a group of friends at a coffee shop like Carrie on Sex and the City or Rachel on Friends. I feel bad when I see groups like this when I’m out. I used to have a group of friends with my sorority years ago, but we don’t live in the same city anymore. I’m the queen of making friends one-by-one. How can I get a group of friends?

You know what? I am the same way. When I see a group of friends out, I feel that pain too. Let’s be honest—I see friends out more on social media than in real life. “Why don’t I have a big group of girlfriends to travel with and grow old with?”

You do, though. You do have friends to travel with and have coffee with and grow old with. It’s not the number of friends you have but the depth of the relationships. Isn’t one good friend better than 10 acquaintances? Fun is what you make it. Introduce your friends. No one should say no to making a new friend. And if they do—well, they shouldn’t be your friend. Right?
