Mission Fresh Fashion has been feeding the need for fresh healthy produce and fresh fashion finds for 25 years.
Feeling good is a result of what we put in our bodies—and on our bodies. With that in mind, Ray Hanf endeavored to provide apples and dresses— literally! And this unique concept has fed fashionistas for years.
His idea to have a store dedicated to health and comfort was conceived in the early ‘90s. “He would include healthy food and comfortable clothing and accessories,” says his wife, Becky Hanf. “The idea came to ‘fruition’ in May 1998. In the early years, Mission Fresh Produce would sell fresh produce and offer customers the largest selection of Fresh Produce sportswear in the Midwest.”
Around 12 years ago, the two began focusing more on bringing comfortable clothing to the forefront, in addition to offering the best of the best in accessories to customers. This led to changing the name to Mission Fresh Fashion, which reflected the offerings of the store.
Now in their 25th year, they are not only offering local jewelry designers, great gifts, and affordable casual sportswear. “We feel something that sets us apart is that we carry clothing for all four seasons, all year round,” says Ray. “If you need shorts in December or a sweatshirt in July, we have you covered!”
This popular, locally owned boutique is now located in the heart of charming downtown Mission, Kansas. It features unique, comfortable, beautiful clothes for women ranging from casual beachwear to dressier tops, pants, capris, and jackets. You can find everything for that perfect outfit at Mission Fresh Fashion, including original jewelry, handbags, and sunhats.
Current lines featured include Sea Breeze of California, Sabaku Artwear, Shana Apparel, Ezze Wear, Ethyl Clothing, Euro, Rum Reggae Clothing, Lulu-B Clothing, Life Is Good, Impulse California jeggings, Dona Bela Shreds, Pocket Plus, Firefly Jewelry, Mariana Jewelry, Ampere Creations purses, Charles River Apparel jackets, Catherine Lillywhite’s, Foxcroft Collection, ili New York small leather bags, locally crafted jewelry, and more.
After occupying a few different locations, Becky and Ray purchased the building at 6102 Johnson Drive in Mission. “Our customers have been very loyal from the onset. They have followed us throughout the years,” confirms Becky. “Customers travel from Weston, Paola, Wichita, and St. Louis, to name a few. And all visit when they are in the area. They know they are going to see one of us, but likely both of us.”
Becky and Ray enjoy greeting their customers by name when they come in. Over the years customers have come to know the Hanf family, and Becky and Ray have come to know their customers’ families. One customer who comes in often, Ann from Shawnee, says, “I have been shopping at Mission Fresh Fashion for many years. In fact, my closet looks like a second store! I can always depend on Becky to tell me what looks good and what looks NOT so good! I love shopping Mission Fresh Fashion and love the owners!”
“From selling real ‘fresh produce’ to expanding into other clothing lines and accessories, the store is always a work in progress,” notes Ray. A few years back they decided to stick their toe into the jewelry arena. “Since that time, we have learned a great deal and now offer the largest in-store selection of the very sought-after Mariana jewelry line in the area,” exudes Becky.
Karen from Merriam, another Mission Fresh Fashion fan, says, “This wonderful little boutique, Mission Fresh Fashion, is my favorite ‘go to’ shop! Their selection of clothes, jewelry, and gifts is amazing. Because of the fashionknowledgeable owners, Ray and Becky, every piece is unique, comfortable, and of great quality. This is the kind of shop you love to discover on your trips and travels when you’re looking for that perfect little something—and we are lucky enough to have it right here in Mission, Kansas. Mission Fresh Fashion is a local gem!”
