昨年より実施の、 大阪大学にアーティストが滞在して芸術創作を行うシリーズ。 今年は、 フランス在住のポルトガル人写真家ジョアン・ガルシア氏が、北摂に残 る文化財とともに、 「 声なき声（記憶）」 をテーマとして、 この地のファンタジー （ゆめまぼろし） を創ります。会場となる旧新田小学校の周辺（上新田） は、江戸 時代からの街道や家屋を残す歴史地区である一方、千里中央の開発や区画 整理の進む準ニュータウンでもあります。 「Kamishinden Fantasy」 は、 そんな多 層多彩な想いを孕む地を舞台に、 ガルシア氏が一ヶ月もの間、様々な人と出会 い、語り、 その地を歩み、見て、上新田の記憶を未来へと投げかけたものです。 本展は、 夕暮れから夜にかけての時間に開催されます。光の加減が、刻一刻と 移り変わる教室の窓。夜の帳につつまれた校舎。非日常の空間となった旧新 田小学校で、上新田のゆめまぼろしをご覧下さい。 （キュレーター／大阪大学大学院国際公共政策研究科 富田大介）
*本展は、 リサーチとしての芸術祭をコンセプトとした 「劇場・音楽堂・美術館等 と連携するアート・フェスティバル人材育成事業ー＜声なき声、 いたるところに かかわりの声、 そして私の声＞芸術祭II」 の一環として実施された 「A.I.R.（アー ティスト・イン・レジデンス）」vol.1の受講生によって運営されています。
Artist in Residence 2014 at Osaka University. Photographer João Garcia, who has singular vision and discerning eyes, perceives sentient movement and transformation of people, things, and surroundings. He conveys this transformation to us through his work: photos and videos. Residing and working at Toyonaka (North Osaka), he will create a fantasy with the theme “Memory (Silent Voice).” Former Shinden Elementary School, a tangible cultural asset of Osaka and located in the Kamishinden area in Toyonaka, is the exhibition venue. The Kamishinden area has houses and roads built during the Edo period, reminding us of old and corrective memories. Certain places here have undergone land development, which along with the advancement in the readjustments of Senri-Chuo are creating new, fractional, and individual memories. “Kamishinden Fantasy” is a crystal image that Mr. Garcia will project as the future, after spending a month in the Kamishinden area, walking, experiencing, and encountering new things, and meeting and talking to people of diverse backgrounds. This new fiction will hopefully be part of future memories. The exhibition starts at dusk, enabling observation of the changes in light and the school space under the canopy of the night. 夜、それは夢がきらめく時間。想い出は 予期せぬ仕方で絡み合い、新しい物語 を紡ぎ出す。生まれた物 語たちは次 第 に想い出と成り、また新たな夢を育む。 「Kamishinden Fantasy」 は、 夢と記憶とが同 じものからできていることを覚る場になる だろう。写真家として私は、 自分の作品が このプロセスの一部となること、 そして私が あらゆるファンタジーの可能性を自分のう ちにもたらし得ることを信じている。 旧新田 小学校の歴史、 その近隣の地域や建物、 住民、 そして自分自身の体験から、新しく、 想像もつかないようなファンタジーが、 夕闇 に差し込む光のもとに浮かび上がる。 それを 「Kamishinden Fantasy」 と呼んでみたい。
ジョアン・ガルシア (リスボン 1976年生まれ) ポルトガルでジャーナリズム、スペインで 美術を学ぶ。写真家、 デザイナー、映像作 家としての経験を活かして、様々な国のア ーティストや団体（ポルトガル、スペイン、 チリ、 フランス、 日本、 ニュージーランド、 ニ ューカレドニア、 アルジェリアなど） と共同 制 作を行う。2 0 0 6 年より拠 点をフラン スに移す。現 在はグラフィックデザイン スタジオ・アンティシャンブル運営の傍 ら、La Rochelle大学で非常勤講師を務め る。1999年より数々の個展を開催。今日 彼は、写真を通して、 日常に潜む知られざ る美にアプローチし、 イメージの持つ力を 試し続けている。

At night, when dreams come alive, memories mingle unpredictably to create new stories. These stories in turn become memories, nourishing new dreams. “Kamishinden Fantasy” is where memories are made of the same matter as dreams. As a photographer, I believe that my images are a part of this process and that I carry within me the possibility of all fantasies. From the particular history of the former elementary school, its neighborhood, places, and people, and my own experience, a new and unexpected fantasy will transpire under the light of dusk, the Kamishinden Fantasy.
After Mr. Garcia studied journalism in Portugal and fine arts in Spain, his experience as a photographer, designer, and videographer led him to work with several artists and institutions in Portugal and abroad (including Spain and Chile). He has lived in France since 2006, and continues collaborating with artists and institutions (in countries such as France, Japan, New Zealand, New Caledonia, and Algeria). He also directs the graphic design studio Antichambre and is a part-time lecturer at the La Rochelle University. He had several individual exhibitions after 1999; today, he employs photography as a medium for experimenting with the power of images to question the unique beauty of daily life.

PHOTOWORKSHOP Have you ever experienced those little intriguing moments hidden in your daily life? If you just change your perspective a bit, you might be able to come across one of those moments. Along with Mr. Garcia and other participants, come share your particular vision(s) during a photo walk around the elementary school. After the session, photos taken by the participants will be displayed on a large screen, which will be open for public viewing at the fall cultural property open house, from the 6th to the 9th (10 am–4 pm).

千里ニュータウンの片隅に残る旧校舎。1973年に引退したものの100年以上の 記憶を背負う教室で、一日限り、 「授業」 を再開します。大阪に縁のある島田陽子 さんの詩を導きの糸にして、私たちの記憶と上新田界隈の移ろいとが交差する 時間を旅してみましょう。幼い頃に見ていた夢をふと想い出す…。 そんな心のア ルバムをめくる空想劇をお楽しみ下さい。

: BEAUTIFUL DREAMER
The old school building is located in a far corner of Senri New Town. Its role ended in 1973 with the establishment of Senri New Town. But, it still houses memories of more than 100 years. This autumn, classes will resume along with a presentation of Mr. Garcia’s images. A poem by Yoko Shimada, who was raised in Osaka, will lead us on a journey through time, where people’s memories and the changes in the Kamishinden district intersect; similar to a dream one had as a child that flashes across one’s mind. Enjoy the fantasy drama and flip the pages of the album of your heart!

Let’s go to school together! Participants will head to the exhibition venue in a group, explore historical sites, and trace the rich history of the region or reminisce. The tour is a foreword to the exhibition. A change in “time” is another important theme of this event. You can experience various types of “time”: the time of a sunset, 50 years of the development of Senri New Town, or 400 years of the development of Kamishinden. This event will be held every day during the five-day exhibition. On November 3, a Japanese–English interpreter will be available.
