Effective accumulative DATE: 2018 LOCATION: Prague STATUS: Academic Proposal TEAM: Sinan Birsel, Elan Fessler(studio assistant), Jan Schindler(studio leader) SOFTWARE: Revit Nominated for Golden Roubik Award Exhibited in DOX Campus Proposal for a residential and mixed-use cultural programme on a steep slope at a sensitive location with great amount of historical context and relation. The proposal strives to repair the untethered relation of the site by lifting the ground of the city back on itself to extend and redefine the piazza as a stage for various activites of the contemporary city life.
Rotation, projection and superposition of elements in the city fabric to define and program the spaces.
While the lifted ground is programmed to be part of the piazza above and house cultural functions below, it resolves the problem of level differences by granting interconnected access on 3 different levels.
Intertwined unit sytems are created to optimize the usage of space by minimising circulation space needed to service each unit. All units have a private exterior space that is isolated and intimate.

Ferko-S DATE: 2018 - Ongoing LOCATION: Istanbul STATUS: Professional collaboration TEAM: Sinan Birsel, Özge Üstündağ(lead architect), Elif Görgülü SOFTWARE: AutoCAD/Sketchup Refurbishment project for an office in the Ferko Signature Tower. A wide range of valuable experiences gained, such as working in close cooperation with a small team, communication and meetings with manufacturers/ engineers/project manager, understanding of client relations, management of the bill of quantity and accounting of materials.

Terrain vague DATE: 2017 LOCATION: Prague STATUS: Academic Proposal TEAM: Sinan Birsel, Pavel Nasadil(studio leader) SOFTWARE: Sketchup/AutoCAD Nominated for Golden Roubik Award Proposal for a new masterplan in a site between a transportation hub and future city-scale development. It aims to repair the scattered urban fabric with a care full additional-only approach, while keeping the existing porosity and taking into consideration the need for a social life in the district.
The new buildings are designed with respect to the contextual needs and with a consideration for a sense of openness in the piazza generated to increase attractivity and interaction.
Äąv. mmcitĂŠ DATE: 2018 LOCATION: Bilovice, CZ STATUS: Academic Workship TEAM: Sinan Birsel, Fadri Horber METHOD: Sketch & Handcraft Chosen as best design (1st stage) Chosen as best craftsmanship(2nd stage) 1st Stage(2h): Individual design of furniture with seating for minimum 3 people. Designs are selected based on sketches and 1:10 model. 2nd Stage(4h): Manufacturing of 5 chosen designs in 1:1 with wooden studs(x10), handsaw, nails and hammer.
v. 11.shift - the vast minority DATE: 2018 LOCATION: Venice STATUS: Self-Motivated TEAM: Sinan Birsel,Elif Erez,Duygu Gökoğlu + “Architecture for Everyone” METHOD: Critical Research/Thinking & Handcraft Exhibited in the Turkish pavilion of the 16th Venice Biennale Out of 13 installations within the pavilion, the 11th pavilion was generated through the conversations and digital roundtables specific to social housing. It is a chronological installation showcasing the history, methods and theories but also projects on the issue of social housing, especially focusing on the participatory processes.

Urban morphosis DATE: 2017 LOCATION: Prague STATUS: Academic Proposal TEAM: Sinan Birsel, Réne Dlesk(studio leader) SOFTWARE: Revit Exhibited in Prague 7 Townhall Experimental proposal for a “city bridge” as an extension of the urban tissue with respect to the cubist and artistic style the bridge was conceived in. It is making good use of the location by near-site prefabrication, maritime transportation and in situ assembly in addition to the highly effective passive systems.
